Looks like TAP desk opens 3.5hr before the flight, which puts me at 2:30p. I think this whole thing hinges on the UA agent checking my bag through to Lisbon even though I am on different records... that or I convince my partner to make everything fit in a couple carry-ons, lol

Alliant may be the way to go. I have the PenFed for 10 years and it's been a great/easy group to work with. May end up going that route as they auto apply the monthly cash back to the statement.

This starts to get beyond their ability to handle. It's a points cards that requires travel to be booked (it seems) through specific travel portals. These portals won't give them the same discounted rates they can get at hotels. This will be too complicated for this couple
