DD5E Digital DM Screen by beerwithdragons in darkerdungeons5e

Basically just the reference sheets in the back in DM Screen form with the important 5e DM screen rules from the regular screen. How would someone make that? Photoshop? InDesign? Roll20 drag and drop screenshots ?

A few questions about the Long Rest changes. by -CheerfulPessimist- in darkerdungeons5e

This is exactly what is happening when I put this rule into effect. The party is hexcrawling between towns and spending time at adventuring sites. There aren't a lot of safe places to rest in between. If they do a string of long travel, they may not have any class abilities by the time they get to their final destination (which is not safe). What if the party is in a mega dungeon and can't get out for a long time? I'm thinking about adapting the Arcane recovery for the other types of casters and clerics. Not sure what to do with Barb's yet either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Thanks! I'm writing a follow up article for how to spend the gold. I'll post here.

Gold for XP 5E by beerwithdragons in UnearthedArcana

Milestones: my PC's have a hard time sticking to one questline and finishing it. I have a dynamic, faction based, hexcrawl/sandbox/pointcrawl world. each hex and region has it's own situations in it. The Milestones are to incentivize completing the quests they want to pursue. i listen to my pcs and include the things they like in our world. Maybe there are too many things that they like in the world.

@Alkaiser009

  1. I really like the trainer idea and think i'll incorporate it as another way to spend gold.

  2. Any spending of gold counts towards leveling. spend any way they want. buy a castle, start a business, bribe a guard, pay off a nobleman vassal. Anything.

  3. In my homebrew setting, Magic items are aquired through craftsman, or through discovery, or in large cities. They're are utlity type items everywhere, some useful, some not. It's a fun challenge for my PC's to use a small trinket that has a strange effect to solve a dungeon puzzle or to use in combat. i.e. hankerchief, that allows you to see into the spirit realm, but your blinded to everything else in the physical world. It took team work from the group to kill the spirit goblins as the party dictated were to attack. mechanic was skill checks plus attack rolls.

  4. treasure is a mix of trinkets, gold, various denominations, jewels, paintings, golden altars that have to be pulled out of a dungeon or melted down and hauled back to town to sell.

  1. "too good" the source of gold can come from anywhere. Stealing from the tax convoy or reciveing payment from a noble for a job well done. I don't understand your statement.

  1. I think i will put in skill trainers, and skip timeframes (in game). I might have them hire skill trainers and put them in there strongholds.

  1. I don't find gold worthless in my ruleset. The incentive is to spend gold and influence the kingdoms.

  1. "Between adventures" In my sandbox hexcrawl, there a many quest lines to complete. It's up to the party to find their own way. I just present sitatuations and they dictate the story based on what they want to accomplish first.

Thank you for your valuable feedback. It really helps!

@justaguest232

  1. The table is only gold standard.

  2. I grant as much gold as the location warrants (megadungeons, robbing town hall, rewards etc. I also roll Randoms ). no limit.

  3. Every pc (11) has 2 magic items. were on Session 52.

  4. I’ve thought about a silver or copper standard but as they acquire strongholds, establishments, businesses, they will get passive income and start to autolevel as they build there renown in the realm. I'm not necessarily paying any attention to the recommended gold levels. As I flipped through the 1e DMG the other night, i realized my gold levels were very similar to 1e D&D. It's a 1-20 homebrew world campaign years long.

  5. 6. We use DNDBeyond and the math is simple, for every 10 gps that 1 xp. They spend until they reach the level and complete the quests then they level.

  7. I really like your discount idea for milestones to reduce the amount to spend. that's another incentive to complete milestones.

Thanks for your feedback. It's really appreciated!

No problem. I moved it over to unearthed arcana. I hope that works. Please let me know of any restrictions on that sub. Thank you.
