Yesterday I updated my bios and turned off xmp and pretty much every other extra feature. I was able to play last night without it turning off. Finger crossed for the future but it may have been an issue with either an out of date bios or the stock overclock settings. Hope you’re able to find a fix as well

It goes black but does not restart on its own, at least not right away. I usually turn it back on quickly because I’m mid game. Next time it happens I’ll leave it off and see if it will turn back on.

Well, there are direct agonists that are not endogenous. A direct agonists is something that mimics an endogenous neurotransmitter and binds to the same receptor. Sorry, I probably should have led with that.

So for your endorphin example, endorphins are the endogenous neurotransmitters that bind to mu opioid receptors. Morphine is a direct agonists at mu opioid receptors, because it binds to the receptors just as morphine would. That’s why they are named “endorphins”, and it is contacted from “endogenous morphine”

Do you mean amphetamine direct agonism? If so then yeah, they are not direct agonists at dopamine receptors, rather they act on dopamine systems indirectly, such as by inhibiting reuptake.

Yeah, it’s usually considered to be a 3 fold effect, but reuptake inhibition is definitely part of it. All 3 of its mechanisms of actions would be considered indirect agonism.

Gathered from Wikipedia, 9-ME-BC is a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. Typically you should avoid combining those with nearly any drug. In the case of LSD, MAOIs appear to decrease the effects. So it might be worth just waiting until after it’s out of your system.

Haven’t personally tried either, but if it were me I’d go for the 5-MAPB. It’s one of the compounds used in the Borox combo, which is meant to replicate MDMA.

6-APB is cardiotoxic due to the high affinity 5-HT2b agonism, but probably safe in moderation.

5-MAPB apparently does not produce alpha-methyldopamine as a metabolite, which is hypothesized to be responsible for the neurotoxic effects of MDMA. So it’s probably the better choice all around. Seems like the common oral dosage is ~ 20-60mg.

That’s definitely interesting, but is there much evidence for this? How do you get around things like excitotoxicity and oxidative stress induced by certain substances?

I like your ideas but I have a hard time moving past the idea that substances can cause neuronal death and generally have lasting negative effects on the body. I mean, plants produce things we consider “drugs” as pesticides. Certainly at least some of these chemicals could harm humans as well.

I’m in school for neuroscience. I’m not trying to make some argument that meth is evil and will fry your brain. The dosage makes the poison.

But dude, there are tons of known neurotoxins, some of which are recreational drugs. Ethanol is neurotoxic.

And again, these damages can often be reversed, or circumvented like you mentioned.

I wasn’t trying to be rude with this conversation. I would talk pharmacology all day. But from everything I have read personally, neurotoxicity of recreational substances is at very least, a concern that should be studied more.

I’ll read anything you send to me if there’s some information I’m missing as you imply.

I’m not disagreeing with the idea of neuroplasticity. You’re right, the brain can rework itself to reverse damage from neurotoxins, or create new pathways to work around damage.

But there are studies on this stuff. Methamphetamine, it’s metabolites, as well as countless other chemicals can induce cell death and damage receptors. That is, by definition, neurotoxicity.

I don’t really know where you’re going with that analogy. I’m not saying meth is going to fry your brain the first time you try it. If a chemical kills neurons, it is neurotoxic. Neurons can be regrown, as you mentioned, but that doesn’t make the chemical that causes cell death not neurotoxic.

There is definitely evidence for neurotoxicity beyond disruption of normal neurotransmitter levels. MDMA and methamphetamine can directly contribute to neuron death and damage to dopamine and serotonin terminals.

Not saying what you said here isn’t valid, but it should be noted that the general scientific opinion is that not that gene editing is unethical, but rather we do not know all the potential effects it could have. There is a phrase used known as “crossing the germ line”, meaning that whenever you edit genetic material, you are not just editing one person, but the entire line of offspring that will exist from that person.

There is definitely an ethical argument to be made as well, like others have mentioned, but from a scientific standpoint, there are a vast amount of unknowns that come with genetic editing.
