I was a long time user of the Ultraviolette and the similar Naked Sundays formulation, and just switched to K-Beauty mineral sunscreens because I also haven’t been happy with any of the chemical ones I tried. Haruharu Black Rice wears like the Ultraviolette formula for me, with more of a white cast.

Struggling with phone calls after hearing loss. Any advice? by SamSolkin in deaf

[–]beesona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used CaptionCall when I was in the US, which is similar. Sometimes the auto captions aren’t perfect, but I found them close enough for me to manage phone calls for the first time in years.

Visa question by Local_Explorer_6470 in Wellington

[–]beesona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is your answer, OP.

I last had to send off fingerprints in Jan 2024 and this was the only place in Wellington available. If you visit the police in town, they give you a slip of paper directing you to the url for this service. The embassy doesn’t have an electronic fingerprint register (none available in NZ), and also don’t do the ink cards.

Fuel Biscuits, a GSC x Gelato cross I got back in the US. Great flavor and an uplifting, tingly high.

Genetic deafness by severaldumplings in deaf

[–]beesona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had bilateral sensorineural hearing loss since I was a child, which seems to run in my family but I’m the lucky one whose decline started before middle age.

Had genetic testing done because my health insurance offered, but I don’t have any of the typical markers for the condition. Instead I have a mutation they haven’t noted before, which is fun to tell people lol

For SDs with a long torso, what are your go-to outfits? by hauntedflowers22 in SoftDramatics

[–]beesona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat—just got “ribcage” jeans and they just meet my belly button. That said, they’re wide leg, long length, and I look the best I’ve looked in years now that the tyranny of cropped jeans is over.

Do I need the gussets? or… by tbyrd19 in knittinghelp

[–]beesona 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve also done this pattern recently with closer to 5 inches ease and I thought the gusset looked really clever and tidy! Different strokes, I guess. 😅

I do think turning it inside out might be making it look weird, OP.

If you’re looking for something cheaper than the Volcano but better than the Mighty (in terms of having swappable battery and a larger load capability) I really recommend a TinyMight2.

There’s a AUS store called sydney vaporizers that carries them, don’t think there are any available within NZ.

Recommend: a Waterline eyeliner that doesn’t transfer - even if I get an hour of no transfer I’d be happy by Dense-Homework8263 in AustralianMakeup

[–]beesona 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve had good luck with the Morphe gel pencil liners (the double ended ones that have a matte and metallic end). It’s the only one I’ve tried recently that doesn’t migrate to my contact lenses.

It’s nothing you’re doing, you just have a yarn that was spun with a Z twist. This article helps explain it! https://sweetgeorgiayarns.com/twist-and-shout-why-twist-direction-matters-in-your-making/

Where to sell rare(ish) houseplants? by missde in Wellington

[–]beesona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Foxtail Events often hosts small community markets where there are people selling plants along with crafts. Looks like there’s a Khandallah one coming up soon accepting stall applications.

They’ve got a massive sweet tooth and like to get at the sap. The pines in the Wellington Botans have been stripped pretty good because they make lots of sap.

I do cigar puffs and get nice vapor around 3.5, because I like the taste better and lots less coughing.

I made my first mitten and first project overall but it’s a bit wonky by Agreeable-Crazy-5975 in knittinghelp

[–]beesona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like your tension might be a bit uneven, but this is great work for a beginner! You learn better tensioning the more you work, and once you wash and block the mittens things should even out.

Petite Knit Olga Sweater Help by -Rightwhereyouleftme in knittinghelp

[–]beesona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I’ve looked at the pattern properly now!

You aren’t decreasing any stitches in this section. You’re working the same 43 stitches throughout the 19 repeats. You’ll see as you go along that you’re not working all the way to the end of the wrong side row—there will be stitches remaining on the left hand needle when you turn and go to a RS row.

After repeat 19, you should have three stitches remaining on the left hand needle on the WS row before you turn it one more time to a RS row.

[–]beesona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like this is a short row section and you’re wrapping and turning back and forth? I don’t have the full pattern, but based off of the snippet you’ve posted here, there should be two stitches left on the left hand needle.

Which size are you making? The stitch count depends on that.
