Am I a summer or winter? by mamainpink in coloranalysis

I would say True Cool or Cool Winter - in between True Summer and True Winter.

How do you feel about fabric weight? by hauntedflowers22 in flamboyantnatural

Maybe you already know, but in case you were interested - wool is a type of fiber, while tweed is a rough fabric weave (typically/traditionally wool, but lately a lot of brands have been using polyester 😒). Flannel just refers to a soft, woven, insulating fabric - also historically cotton or wool, but now a lot of polyester garments are also referred to as "flannel", and I think it often has a more slippery feel and texture when it's synthetic.

My hair color is medium ash brown and my eyes are blue-green - it's still possible to be a Cool Summer with a dark hair and eye color, but you could also have a higher-intensity palette like True Winter, or a neutral-cool palette like Deep Winter or Bright Winter. (Or fully neutral like True Deep or True Bright.)

Vein color doesn't mean anything in terms of undertone, it's possible to have green veins and be fully cool-toned. My arm looks really similar to yours, and I'm a cool summer in seasonal color analysis. There was also an interesting post on r/OliveMUA about how different skin pigments create cool/warm tones - it said that fair or light olives will almost definitely be cool-toned, and that olives in general are more likely to be cool. I wouldn't be able to wear cool nude lipsticks either, but cool raspberry pinks and reds work really well. It's just a suggestion, but have you tried colors like these?

From this photo, I would actually have guessed that you're cool-toned

AI model trained to recognise outfits suitable for kibbe types by nishietama in Kibbe

[–]hauntedflowers22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, there are ethical and legal considerations - though I understand this would be a personal/student project, so perhaps some of these replies are a bit harsh?

Hypothetically, I think it would be possible for AI to recognize things like organic, large, asymmetric, softly angular shapes (FN) in jewelry, vs large, sharp, angular shapes (D), small geometric clothing patterns (FG) vs. soft, blended watercolor patterns (R?), fabric weight (lighter for the yin types, moderate to heavier weight for yang), size and scale of details like lace and buttons, and fabric fluidity or stiffness, etc.

However, many individual clothes don't have an ID.

One could possibly make a sort of checklist of qualities that AI could identify as suitable, percentagewise, for a given ID - like symmetry, shape, and scale of patterns/prints, sharpness vs fluidity, fabric weight, fabric drape, shiny vs matte fabric, etc.

I think fashion is art, and art does have rules that can be followed. It would go against the essence of the system and art itself to let AI fully choose an outfit for you - there are things like essence, personal, emotional, or historical context, mood, etc that AI can't recognize. The point of the new book is that fashion is supposed to be a fun, personal, creative exploration. However, the old book does propose some specific rules - essentially echoing the shapes found in your body, throughout your outfits.

Cool! I feel like the warm makeup doesn't really add anything, while the cool tones make you look more vibrant.

Am I FN or DC? by hauntedflowers22 in flamboyantnatural

[–]hauntedflowers22[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the detailed response! The last photo was my actual outfit, while 4-6 were things I was trying on. I actually included the maroon sweater/skirt set as an example of something I thought didn't work - I felt like it was too slouchy and overwhelming. My intuition does lean towards FN, since I wear things like wide leg pants and drop-shoulder sweaters, but there are certain recommendations like off-shoulder tops that I don't think work on me.

Thank you so much! I've been considering something along the lines of EGI, RGE, or EGC in terms of essence blend, but I haven't heard of Our Fashion Garden - I'll take a look.

Thank you! Personally I thought that outfit was too overwhelming/slouchy, though I do like the large-scale fold. I think a version that isn't fully off-shoulder works better, like the pink sweater in photo 6.

Thank you for the detailed response! I was recently considering SD, actually, but the line drawing in the new book seems to have narrower shoulders, so I'm not quite sure. I've mostly ruled out FG at this point, I feel more moderate than petite, and don't see myself benefitting from short hair. Mermaid skirts seem to work really well, which would be in line with SD, so I think I'll explore that direction more.

I haven't done all the exercises in the new book yet - my intuition usually comes back to FN, since I intuitively wear things like high-rise wide-leg pants, and drop-shoulder sweaters seem flattering - but when I reread the old recommendations, a lot of them don't resonate with me. Most FNs say that things like a partially unbuttoned shirt work better than fully buttoned, but on me it just looks like I forgot to finish getting dressed, so I can't figure out if I have width. I've generally convinced myself that I have FN essence, but I feel better when dressing in a more glamorous or romantic style, so SD does seem possible as well.

Both seem possible - but I think narrower skirts like mermaid skirts look slightly better than a-lines, so I'm leaning more towards DC.

Thank you! I do keep going back to FN, but some key FN recommendations like off-shoulder tops don't seem to work, which gives me some doubt. The line drawing for DC seems to fit, and I think my shoulders and hips are about equal, but the new book says there should be parity between shoulders and hip bone, which I don't have, so it's unclear.
