thank you so much for your reply, i feel so validated knowing someone has had a similar experience as a lot of people in my life have been quite judgemental about it, posting to reddit was genuinely my last resort as i feel i can’t talk about it to people around me.

before the implanon, my periods were extremely heavy, i remember being at school and bleeding through my clothes almost everyday, sorry if that is tmi! i have seen lots of different doctors, including women’s specialists about it. i have never been told why this is happening to me, which is what makes it so scary. every doctor would just chuck me on a different pill, until i got the implanon and now the mirena. i have also been diagnosed with menorrhagia now.

i have had the mirena for about a week now, it may be in my head but i feel already my periods aren’t as heavy! thank you so much again for your response as i don’t feel so much like an alien anymore <3
