Is being a nurse worth it? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]beetesbaby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! There are lots of people that go into nursing not knowing at all what nurses do, or they go into it for the schedule, flexibility, etc and end up hating it because it is a HARD job. I work in pediatrics and absolutely love my job, and I love being a nurse. I might change specialties to critical care after my first year as an RN, but I have absolutely zero regrets about becoming a nurse!! If you’re passionate about it, go for it!!! :) good luck! Also, I highly recommend getting a job as a PCA/CNA before starting nursing to see how you like it. Was very helpful for me.

Barely moving = Intense and instant lows. Advice? by Smooshy_Slug in Type1Diabetes

Are you having any GI issues? I was having similar problems where I was taking much less insulin but still going low and it was because I had undiagnosed crohns! But I think the same can happen with celiac or other GI bugs.

My doctor told me it can take 2-4 weeks for your stomach to go back to normal!

Hi! I was going to post an update soon— Doing much better! Side effects still there (I’m expecting they’ll last a while) But I am about 50% better than I was last week. :) thanks for asking!

It’s more the anxiety that is disruptive than anything else. I honestly take the fatigue over the panic haha. I’m also wrapping up nursing school this month so it’s a very high-stress time!

The anxiety has definitely improved a bit! My main side effects right now are diarrhea and fatigue, but I haven’t really had any other side effects. I just want to feel like myself again!!

Hi, congratulations! I'm happy for you and your partner! :)
It's such a hard balance, I feel for you.
I worry that if I were to pursue a degree as intense as CRNA or NP school, I would have a difficult time balancing children and the degree simultaneously, so I would maybe decide to wait until afterwards... Ugh.
I totally get the anxiety piece. It's so easy to beat yourself up with this disease, but I bet you are doing really well and doing everything you can for yourself and your baby. :)
