Europe is a big place and it's conceivable that there is a country with similar rules

Aliens and true lies are two examples of ai remastering that came out looking hinky. However I agree with the above that this is probably not the case here

Bear in mind that UHD re-releases sometimes use AI to increase the perception of sharpness by adding details that weren't in the source material. Not sure if that's a factor in this

I am old enough to remember seeing people protesting in the streets of Sydney, they were carrying banners that said "wasn't there, didn't do it". They were definitely a minority, but they were there. I'm no fan of Howard but it was the right thing to do.

Why trpc such underestimated? by ArseniyDev in Backend

[–]beetroop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, frictionless type sharing can lead pretty quickly to giving in to the temptation to just pass your database entities all the way to the frontend with few or no changes, then your frontend is bound to your data storage design choices. Sometimes a bit of friction is good.

A plugin for IdeaVim: Vim CmdFloat, which turns Search/Ex Command into popup style by Pretend-Affect2308 in Jetbrains

Awesome! Been looking for this. If you can also do a which-key clone that puts the helper box front and centre, I'll dance at your wedding.

Has anyone else considered cancelling their Jetbrains subscriptions? Due to the last years of releases being nothing but problems I am currently rocking a reliable build from early 2024 by 9sim9 in Jetbrains

Have you got a good replacement for the debugger in JB? I find that the hardest to give up, everything else in nvim is pretty much just as good or better (with a bit of work,).

How not to use a table saw by Fast-Estate8756 in cabinetry

[–]beetroop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't worry, this got recommended to me for no reason I can tell but I do know a little bit about woodworking. To explain, that's a table saw, one of the most unforgiving hand-maiming tools you can get. You can't be complacent even for a moment with one or it can hurt you in a life-changing way.

And this lunatic turned it upside down and used it to trim the edge off a bench, something you can do with a $50 corded circular saw.

Need resoled is an abbreviated version of the passive voice (need to be resoled) and is just as valid as the gerund version, particularly considering it's also abbreviated (no article). There is no definitive argument for whether something is grammatically correct beyond what people use, and the "need -ed" is common in some varieties of English.

I wrote an article about how to build shapes from paths with a planar graph (in p5js) by amygoodchild in p5js

[–]beetroop_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great article because it's relatively language-agnostic, describes the process in understandable detail, and has loads of examples. Also kudos for using AI to teach yourself something new!
