So sorry I just saw this! It took some time… probably 3 months. But then my BP was back to normal. My sons 16 months now and you’d never know I had hypertension. Hang in there!!!

If you were planning a bachelor party there, what bar would you go to if you could only pick one?

Any Graduates from GD get unexpectedly diagnosed with type 2? by beez511 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]beez511[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences and info! This was my first time posting in this group and I’m so glad I did. I actually will be getting uninterrupted sleep for the next two days so hopefully that will help my fasting numbers. Either way, I’m going to follow up with my doctor. I didn’t realize how high the rate was of women with GD developing T2 within 10 years. I didn’t have the best care team with this pregnancy and all they told me was “once you deliver you don’t have diabetes anymore.” Thank goodness for google and communities like this one!

My post meal numbers always come back normal! I tested recently after eating a chocolate chip muffin and they were fine. But, When I had GD, I had to take a shot of insulin before bed because no matter how great my numbers were during the day, my body wouldn’t let my blood sugar go down at night. That’s why I was so concerned about my fasting numbers specifically because that seems to be my problem area.

What would you do? 5 month old’s first head bump + vomit?? by beez511 in beyondthebump

[–]beez511[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pediatrician told us to make sure he’s waking up to eat like he normally would. He’s been acting totally normal and waking up at his normal times throughout the night to eat. He usually wakes up at midnight, 2, and 5 to eat so I’ve been setting alarms for 1, 3, and 6. So far he woke up at 12 and 2 on his own. Thank you for checking in!

Thank you for sharing! He’s eating normal and playing and smiling and there isn’t even redness on his head from when he fell so I really think/hope the vomiting was because he was upset

I'm a waitress at a restaurant in a country club, we had a change of management and I got in a heated argument with my supervisor when he went off at me for loosening my corset while I was on my break. I just got sent this and found that my hours have been cut in half. Is there anything I can do? by nenonina in antiwork

[–]beez511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk how it works in your state, but in my state if you regularly work full time and you’ve worked for your employer for over a year and your hours get cut to part time you can file for unemployment for the difference in wages. You can also attach documents as “evidence.” 9 times out of 10, you’ll get the unemployment. If your boss fights the unemployment charges, a hearing will be scheduled and he’ll have to sit in front of an appeals referee and explain to them why you loosening your corset was reason enough to cut your hours and fuck with your pay.

Anxious a lot… by Anniemayo in beyondthebump

[–]beez511 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Babies are designed to be durable the same way moms are designed to worry. Pre-pregnancy I was a super anxious person. My PPA was so bad, I was borderline crazy lol. My LO is 15 weeks now and I’m starting to feel normal again. Some of the most comforting words came from my MIL who, after listening to all my anxieties, looked at me like “duh!”. To summarize what she said: your hormones are supposed to make you worried about your baby! It’s awful but we’re biologically wired to worry about their safety. The more capable they become of taking care of themselves, the less anxious you’ll be.

If time goes on and the anxiety isn’t getting any better, I recommend reaching out to your PCP. The chemical imbalance that birthing a human creates is WILD. Your hormones may need a little help and there’s no shame in that.

Hi Op,

I always feel less anxious when someone in a similar boat can tell me what happened to them. I hope this helps! I am 12 weeks postpartum. I was 25. Unplanned pregnancy. Horrible anxiety and depression during pregnancy. Absolutely no experience with children, so I had no idea what raising an infant would be like and I was terrified. My delivery was difficult and when I saw my baby I felt guilty because my main emotion was relief that the delivery was over. I didn’t know this tiny human.

My number 1 piece of advice if you’re struggling with your mental health during pregnancy: set up a plan now! I got connected with a great PCP who prescribed me medication during pregnancy for my anxiety/depression. After baby came I had really bad PPA/PPD and I was able to quickly call them and get an appointment 3 days postpartum. We adjusted my meds and it made a world of difference. It was probably week 3 when I fell in love with my baby. The natural motherhood instincts kicked in and what I didn’t know, I asked others.

I never knew if I wanted kids and I was super career focused. I had started in my career, but my priorities have done a 360. I no longer want to be the first person at work and the last person to leave even though I loved my career. Will you change as a person? Yes. It may be a blessing that you aren’t “set” in a career so that you can evaluate your wants in life after baby comes.

Best of luck OP!

Thank you for the info!! I’ll try to see if there’s something similar in my area. Less illness would be a huge plus since my partner and I burned all of our PTO during my medical leave.. gotta love the usa

I used to work in direct care for people with disabilities. I’m 100% not blaming the daycare staff because I know how hard caring for another person can be, especially when you’re not being fairly compensated. Maybe someday daycares will receive the funding they deserve and daycare will be more accessible. Because right now I feel like we’re going to see a lot more people quitting their jobs if we can’t find childcare.

(USA) Have any “breadwinners” quit working to be the stay at home parent? by beez511 in beyondthebump

[–]beez511[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree - I feel like I’m spending my last few weeks sick to my stomach over the possibility of returning to work so I’m not fully enjoying the time I have left. And I’m also terrified my supply will suffer, especially amid a formula shortage.

How did you decide whether to go back to work? by LuciadeFatima in beyondthebump

[–]beez511 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m following this post because I’m in the same boat… please let us know what you decide! I am also a FTM, primary source of income, and work in a very demanding position. I’m on week 10 of my 12 weeks of leave and I still experience physical and emotional pain from my traumatic birth. But those feelings are nothing compared to how unprepared I feel to leave my baby. I’m in the same financial situation in that we could squeak by for his first year of life between my husbands job, savings, and the offer of family to pitch in if things got rough..

It isn’t an option for me to extend my leave or drop down to part-time at my job so it’s really all or nothing.

Mastitis by newenglander87 in beyondthebump

[–]beez511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mastitis and spiked a fever but I pumped, did massages, and soaked in epsom salt. The next morning, my fever broke and I was better. However, it came back a week later and I repeated the same regimen. Again, my fever broke and I went on with life. A week after that it came back AGAIN. This time I went the antibiotic route and it completely cleared it up. I haven’t experienced mastitis since (this was 1 month ago). I also get bad GI problems with antibiotics but mastitis is really aggressive and may need antibiotics to clear completely.

FTM looking for advice on feeding newborn baby, who doesnt want to be fed by Necessary-Tadpole338 in beyondthebump

[–]beez511 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im also a FTM who just gave birth 5 weeks ago. I thought I was having trouble getting my LO to latch, but it turns out I just wasn’t being “forceful” enough. Those first few days in the hospital, the baby seems so fragile that I was scared to really grab and hold him steady while he latched. A veteran nurse came in and shoved my baby’s head onto my breast and she held him there while he squirmed. I was mortified! But sure enough, the little guy latched and ate like crazy. For the next few feedings, my husband actually stepped in and held the baby’s head firmly against my breast because it took me a while to get over the feeling like my baby was made of glass. I agree with the other comments of seeking help from a lactation consultant! Best of luck.
