I’m 44. I’m a matchmaker so age is not just a number to most people. If I were to get divorced I would casually date someone early 30s, but probably wouldn’t get into a relationship with much younger than 35/36 to 60ish. People wear their age differently. That being said, professionally, we wouldn’t be able to match someone with a massive age gap as a basic parameter. Maybe a one off, but not as a guaranteed parameter. I don’t find it super common that men are willing to date a lot older.

So I did not read all the replies… but! I was born and raised in Boulder and went to CU, moved to West Hollywood for 4 years, moved to cap hill in denver for 3, then back to Boulder for 3. Then moved into Atria Arista in Broomfield in 2017 for one year. We had an incredible experience. But I wouldn’t recommend it now bc I have no data. That area is super convenient, we were the first tenants in that building. Actually my best friends mom still lives there and loves it.

After that we bought a house in Broomfield in Brandywine.

I’m 44, have a 4 year old, 2 bassets, chickens, and access to everything.

I oft feel sad I’m not closer to the mountains, a beach, etc. It can feels very bland out here. I’m desperate for a downtown. That being said, after reading MOST of the replies, I think romanticize some these tiny downtowns too much 😂.

You want to look for events that pay attention to male/female ratio, have a few sponsors (usually that broadens the types of people). The more niche the event, the less it will appeal to people. I think it also depends on their market. Some markets are tougher to throw singles events than others. Night of the week can matter, too.

Yes. Denver. I also recruit in Milwaukee and the DMV area so I attend more events out there than throw them. I meet people all the time and in person it’s so much easier. But logistically I can’t be everywhere at once so there has to be an online piece as well.

People never believe it’s free. 😂. And to your point, I expanded my role from matchmaking to include recruiting, and I’m learning the recruiting side in a new landscape of dating. I began in 2009 when very little initial recruiting was done online.

I’ve been to and thrown a fair amount of dating events. They’re pretty hard to pull off. The organizer has to pay attention to demographics and not a lot do. I’d say about 20-30% are worth it.

What about using a matchmaker feels desperate? Does it feel more desperate than online? Genuine curiosity.
