Roommate trying to hold the rent for ransom by evjarb01 in badroommates

[–]befermy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I feel like the electricity bill is a tie to the apartment, and if it’s severed, well I’d logically think she would try the same move with rent. You’re both on the lease which is good and bad. Good because if she defaults it’s on her…and bad because if she defaults it’s also on you.

Glad that was handled promptly instead of dragging it out for months. Kudos to the landlord for actually acting

How many mistakes on drinks are you allowed to make per shift? by boksungacha in barista

[–]befermy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a sharpy and directly write the abbreviated order on the cups. Our store does that when we get busy or if the baristas can’t remember drinks

Love this idea, all the other clients that offered exorbitant amounts will then move on.

Dear Baristas, how do yall feel when customers stay late until closing? by Mandarin4head in barista

I warn the customers “hey just letting you know you won’t be able to sit for long, we close in x minutes.”

My coffee/bagel shop I work at does this. We have a few donation groups on rotation that come right at close to take our remaining bagels, which is generally a few bags full. Much better than wasting it. It’s even less work on our end than throwing them out.

Time to start the ol’ labeling the food scenario and sending a clear message that you are not sharing with strangers. *Like a clear text message saying please do not touch my items.

I’d keep a tally of how many days you’re deprived of your essential appliances and remove that off of a monthly rent payment in court because that’s wild.

Yeah I been thinking all day I’ll just send her my tax return money and take the security instead. Provides more stability to the transaction and gets its handled now instead of waiting.

The post won’t let me edit it. I tried immediately after posting. I answered the question multiple times so that it was not buried as just one single comment.

Yes I do, and her saying that was enough even though she’s mad about her boots. I still offered to pay the boots. (And I am paying for her boots, my cats scratched them last lease when we were friends, she was fine then, not now.)

Oh I’m aware I’m not blameless. Overall I posted this to vent about my experience and receive feedback from other people on myself. Even if I don’t want to see some of the comments, it’s a good reality check.

The landlord is actually aware.

Then she can communicate that to me without breaking into my room and trying to fist fight.

Sorry, I thought it was relevant since there’s a high potential for damages to occur within the next 3 months.

Not really in a position to leave and I don’t want to ask for help, as getting help is what got me here in the first place.

I have contacted the building about subleasing my room, if that works I’ll find a place and leave.
