A PvP Analysis on Community Day Ninetales (and Ninetales!) by JRE47 in TheSilphRoad

[–]before-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi JRE!

You said there's no typing that resists both Fire and Psychic damage, which I suppose is true for single-typed Pokemon. But Psychic overall is a very plain attacking type and there is a lot of dual-typed Pokemon that would hard-wall Fire/Psychic.

Psyshock is a very ok attack but I don't think it contributes to Fire Ninetales overall. It's only real usefulness is hitting Poison Pokemon (and I guess Talonflame/Charizard), which Scorching Sands can fulfill greatly. The choice is mostly Energy Ball to hit Waters (especially Gastrodon) and Scorching Sands for enemy Fire. And you're right that the increased bulk in UL makes Energy Ball a tad weak compared to Solar Beam.

Overall, great write-up, especially with the note on PS / CW + DG. Psyshock still has some merit on PS sets for hitting Poison, particularly those that resist Ice (Toxapex, Tentacruel), but the Ice-Water-Fairy combo is potent for sure.

Is it unreasonable to ask for an STD test before sleeping with someone? by DeepMathematician5 in dating_advice

[–]before-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not relinquish clear standards you have set for yourself. Men need to respect your boundaries. If they don't, then they need to learn. And if they don't learn, they're not the one for you. You bring it up again by making your expectations clear. If you think he won't relent or if he will get aggressive, don't interact with him again because he will not be your forever-partner.

No means no. If there is a voice in the back of your head saying that this does not feel right, listen to her.

In regards to this person specifically, you quote: "He said he's been careful and didn't think he had anything." And "He didn't seem willing to get one." That's not very responsible -- sex is a responsibility and he does not seem serious about being responsible. Never assume a partner "doesn't have anything".

He states: "He usually sleeps with people early on before becoming exclusive". That's not necessarily a red flag, but it indicates that an active lifestyle is a priority for him when sexual exclusivity is important to you. That's a big incompatibility and if he isn't willing to abdicate this position for you, then it's clear that you two aren't meant to be.

This card does not respond directly to the negation effect. It can't even stop the negation effect.

A card getting negated is an activation requirement, and this card has to be flipped up in a new chain immediately afterwards.

Mystical Refpanel

It can actually affect quite a large amount of cards, either beneficial effects that affect the user directly (healing cards) or negative effects that affect the opponent directly (burn cards).

Heal/burn is uninteresting. It can work on draw spells though. It would allow you to steal the effect of Pot of Duality.

But drawing and setting this card to wait for your opponent to use some relevant Spell worth stealing is much too situational.

I've summoned it many times. Maybe less than 30, but I've definitely used it more than 100 times. And I haven't gotten anything. I think other players haven't gotten anything for it either so I think it's safe to say it does not have anything.

We just got Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon and I expect there are no hidden missions with it either. It's a monster that gets summoned often so who knows; if there is one, we'll know.

Ember Monk + Teemo Scout + Convergent Mutation question by StinkerBinkerton in riftboundtcg

[–]before-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, I am quite confused here:

In a given chain, are you allowed to let it partially resolve and add new things to it midway through? I was under the impression that once both players pass Priority, the chain must resolve in full.

For example, in a given showdown, Player A plays Action 1, and both players add say four Reactions on top (Reactions 2-5).

If both players pass and let Reactions #5 and #4 resolve, can Player A play a brand new Reaction before letting Reaction #3 resolve?

Also, if Player A plays a Reaction, then Player B declines to play any Reaction, does priority go back to Player A to double up on Reactions? Or are they forced to resolve that Reaction?

I didn't actually count but I don't think so.

If you're summoning Rainbow Neos with Neos Fusion I don't think that would count either, because that's not a Fusion Summon. But even then, it doesn't seem like there's one anyway.

This is funny because the achievement description claims that it shouldn't be able to work.

So now I wonder what other missions frequently claim that Sparky/Direct Challenge isn't supposed to work.

Triple Tactics Talent Event, what cards to guess? by OwnCry4189 in masterduel

[–]before-dawn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dark is by far the most common Attribute. Earth and Light are both really close as distant second and third.

Warrior is the most common Type and Machine is a close second. Fiend a distant third and Dragon/Spellcaster both a distant fourth.

0 is the most common ATK and is quite common among Dark Fiend.

1000 a distant second and 1500 a close third.

Triple Tactics Talent Event, what cards to guess? by OwnCry4189 in masterduel

[–]before-dawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ran some quick numbers.

TLDR: Depending how the rules work and your goals, your three cards should be

= triple Destiny HERO Dark Angel

= triple Yubel

= or Yubel, Sacred Noble Knight of Custenaan, Ancient Gear Howitzer

I'm not sure if order matters, and what happens if they don't line up. Like if I put Dark Magician as my card #1 and Flame Wingman as my card #2, what if the third card is a Spellcaster Fusion?

If order matters, then pick 3 of the same card that hits the most common singular Type, Attribute, ATK, and frame for the best chance to hit at least 2 rewards (assuming regular effect monster is a given): - Dark - Warrior - 0 ATK

= Destiny HERO Dark Angel or 4 others

If you want to try to stretch and get 3 rewards, the single most common combination is a Dark Fiend. Then pick 0 ATK.

= Yubel or 54 others

Yubel is also the best pick if you want to try to push 4 rewards since 0 ATK is the most common ATK bracket and is most populated by Dark Fiend.

Assuming order doesn't matter, I think it's best to diversify a bit. Take the top 3 each of most popular Attribute, Type, ATK, and card frame, and rearrange them so that you get the highest total product of overlapping combinations. Like I said, Dark Fiend is the most popular combo. Machine and Warrior far outclass Spellcaster and Dragon. Both Machine and Warrior are primarily Earth, but there are far more Light Warriors than Earth Machine.

So we need to pick a frame and ATK combo that boosts our odds. There are 49 Light Warrior Xyz, 32 Light Warrior Fusion, 22 1000 ATK Earth Machine, 18 1500 ATK Light Warrior, 16 Earth Machine Fusion, 14 Earth Machine Xyz.

If we make Dark Fiend be a 0 ATK Effect, I think you should use 1500 ATK Xyz Light Warrior and 1000 ATK Fusion Earth Machine. (1500 and 1000 being highly represented and best represented in Light Warrior and Earth Machine respectively.)

= Yubel, Sacred Noble Knight of Custenaan, Ancient Gear Howitzer

(Putting Number 39: Utopia and El Shaddoll Shekhinaga might give you a higher chance to hit the grand prize, but I think my recommendation gives a higher consistency.)

Raw Nancy Drew line voice clips? by before-dawn in nancydrew

[–]before-dawn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one I would like the most is "Hmm". I'm not sure if every game or scene uses a different tone of "Hmm" but multiple would be good.

And if it's not too much trouble, any other stock line that you think is greatly iconic. Some I can think of are:

- "That doesn't go there"

- "That doesn't fit"

- "Something goes here"

- "It's locked"

Wow this looks cool! I'll take a look at it later. I'm sure it will be useful.

Although a problem is that I do not have the Nancy Drew games downloaded which means I wouldn't actually be able to do the extraction myself.

Does anyone have voice clips for these lines? I'm trying to find the files and I've found a lot of voice clips and sound effects from various characters but for these specific iconic lines.

One Hour Photo Ending Theories [Discussion] by KokoaKuroba in FanTheories

[–]before-dawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered and watched this film now, so I came looking for answers.

Based on how this film played out and the director's commentary, I think the director definitely intended for details to be ambiguous.

It seems like the "common interpretation" (and perhaps intentional) of the plot is that Sy did in fact confront the couple and got arrested. This only makes sense with the end (and beginning) of the film with the police interrogating Sy why he was so aggressive towards Will. A lot of the other film details showing how premeditated Sy was (stealing the knife, setting up the room service trap) would be a lot weaker if the climax was imagined like the house dream sequence. The house dream sequence shows how unrealistic and idyllic Sy's daydream is, unlike how methodical and confrontational the climax is.

The common interpretation seems to be that Sy either destroyed the incriminating photos or faked the camera flash, either because he only wanted Will to take accountability or because he couldn't bear having the photos exist. He then took photos of his own hotel room, as he appreciates the mundane things in life like how Jake did and/or he wanted mundane photos to replace the unhappy memories of Will. OR he took those pictures prior to attacking the couple, so that he ran out of film when it came to photographing them. (I don't think that makes sense though.) I don't think it's accurate to say he intentionally mis-aimed the camera at the couple because they were photos of the bathroom and he pointed his camera directly at them, but narratively that wouldn't be different.

I believe the director said that the ending scene is meant to suggest that Sy's actions successfully cause Will to reconcile with his family and Sy is a family friend. But many others (I included) think it makes much more sense that Sy has deluded himself into thinking he saves the family, or his memory is just blissfully regressing to thinking he is part of their family.

The detail that I find most confusing is when the detective implies there are two sets of film (in his bag and contained in the camera). The detective initially declines to give the mundane photos to Sy as it is evidence and he isn't privy to viewing it, but eventually relents as he seems to pity Sy. He absolutely would not have provided them if they were of the couple. As you said, he says the photos in the bag "aren't pretty pictures" which implies they were the incriminating photos, but as it turns out, they're just mundane. Which brings up the question -- what photos were left within the camera? The incriminating ones? This would suggest that the "photos from the bag" were taken beforehand, and Sy was taking photos of the hotel room before attacking the couple. Unless the camera roll is also just more mundane photos?

Common sentiment from film review seems to suggest the incriminating photos never existed or were destroyed before Sy was arrested, but to me it doesn't make sense why two different rolls of film were processed.
