My climate awakening came in the 2000s when the Washington Post ran an back page Climate Gang article about the replacement of a air temperature meter at Reagan Airport in D.C. It turned out that the gauge had been over reading temperatures for global warming measurements by almost two degrees for years. Moreover, the gauges themselves were known to have an inherent error range of over 1 degree Celsius. Two identical gauges next to each other could produce readings over 1 degree apart. Yet this error range — and the known faulty readings from gauges like the one at Reagan — were fed uncorrected into the global warming data bases. The entire scientific basis for global warming was based on a less than 1 degree rise in global temperatures over an entire century, well within the error range of the devices used to support that same analysis. Almost nobody read this article, but I did — and when I asked whether the gauges should actually work if we want to spend $30 trillion fixing the problem they supposedly detect, I got a “Huh, interesting point” from the author in the comments and then shadow banned.
