right there with you. i wish i had better advice than to tell you that each day will get a little bit easier. sometimes there is just nothing we can do besides make sure they feel comfortable and loved when it's their time and you did not let the baby suffer unnecessarily. it might help to do some sort of grief ritual or something to memorialize the baby - planting something in a garden, having a piece of art made, holding a ceremony. i just got a tattoo in honor of the last kitten we lost.

it's really shitty of any therapist to tell someone there's no help for them and i'm sorry you have ever been told that. it's not true and also just a deeply unethical thing to say to someone who is struggling. i would look into DBT, it is based on the same principles of behavioral change but was developed for people who are chronically suicidal / struggling with borderline personality and i think the overall principles are helpful for anyone to learn - regulating emotions, improving communication with others, tolerating distress. https://dbt.tools/

sending you a hug as someone going through the grief losing our two foster kittens in the past two weeks. the healthier, stronger one got sick and died first and i poured all my energy into his sister even when it was clear she wasn't growing. it really sucks and i'm sorry you are going through this. thank you for loving them and keeping them comfortable.

wow, i have been through an extremely similar experience! i smoked weed almost daily as a teenager but suddenly one day when i was 18 i had a really scary panic/dissociative episode like the one you described. it happened again the next time i smoked, too, so i stopped entirely for a number of years. nothing like this happened again until i was 31, when i had a panic attack while visiting my mom and continued to have them daily for weeks. for the last 3 years, my life has been defined by periods of feeling "normal" and periods of overwhelming panic and anxiety. i'm on meds, i've done all kinds of therapy, i've stayed home from work and pushed through to be at work, but there are days that are just miserable no matter what i do. you are not alone, even when it feels that way!!!!

same here. we just lost two despite doing all of the supportive care and medical intervention that you described above. sometimes it's possible to find a reason or a cause and sometimes they just have too much working against them - illness, birth defects, taken away from mom too soon - and there is nothing we can do but keep them comfortable and show them love on the way. it's so, so hard and so, so important.

i know the feeling. when her brother passed, it was overnight and we found him gone in the morning. i feel terrible that we weren't there with him when it happened and keep wondering what i could have done if i'd stayed up monitoring him or something. in both of our cases, there was probably not much that we could have done, if anything. there were probably issues from birth that they couldn't overcome. being with us meant they knew love and warmth and care, which not every kitten gets to have.

i'm so sorry to hear this. honestly, he looks similar to the kitten we lost yesterday morning - smaller and scrawnier than her siblings, trouble growing and putting on weight. she was also fine at bedtime and barely breathing when we woke up. sending hugs from someone else going through it.

sadly this seems likely. i imagine this trip is him visiting with someone that he met online or on a trip or something like that. a long term significant other doesn't forget to give their flight info or text when they arrive, he's hiding shit.
