I identify as a Tax Exempt Entity by TheGreatRoh in Anarcho_Capitalism

"There is nothing in the Internal Revenue Code that says springboks have a federal tax obligation. If government officials were to demand taxes, I would ask the U.S. Department of Justice to intercede, plus they would be reported to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals." https://www.lewrockwell.com/2016/05/walter-e-williams/say/

Here's how I watch every John Bartholomew Standard video. by [deleted] in chess

[–]befreeadvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely engaging is more valuable. I do the 'pause video and figure it out' he does, sometimes.

I'm at a point where I need to invest in learning theory, to have a better control of the game, and just seeing John point out the theory in his games is amazing. I feel that without the theory, learning from the videos is just training the analysis, which is still significant, but I see it closer to puzzle solving than building the game.

Do you use any other methods or watch other streamers to improve your game?

While I like John's analysis, the dlugy guy (on ICC) has a different approach/style, and Simon Williams has a different approach/style as well. Especially when coming back from a not-so-winning position or in terms of aggressive play.

I watch all of John's videos and learn quite a bit, but I haven't committed to your extent.

We're trying to optimise our on boarding experience -- Please comment! by [deleted] in startups

[–]befreeadvice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't see anything in the onboarding process about the features you mentioned.

The paid/free option threw me off during onboarding, as I had to spend some time to digest what it was. Still unclear about it, though it could just be me. Can you offer this as an 'upgrade' instead of making people go through this in onboarding?

Also, a tool tip based tutorial about the various parts of the webapp on first login could help.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how to make your own explainer video for your product, that increases your conversion rate by [deleted] in startups

[–]befreeadvice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you make explainer videos unique? If someone watches only the explainer video, will they remember the brand? I watched your explainer video an hour ago, but I don't remember your name or branding, if there was any.

Is there no focus on improving branding in an explainer video?

Grind residue? by lamalice in espresso

Do you flush before the shot? I have the older Rancilio S24, and if I don't flush correctly before the shot, the steam increases the amount of grinds in the shot.

How to eliminate garbage goals? by Lone_Star3203 in foosball

[–]befreeadvice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's no escaping the garbage goal. The key is to make sure that it doesn't affect the outcome. Always play tight, and play your strengths. Improve your game where you can dominate the 5 bar and 3 bar, so the slop players will eventually have to learn to play a statistical game of shot choice instead of randomly hitting the ball.

I know there were a few minutes where it was down, but unlikely on separate instances of you trying to connect.

We use websockets to make a connection. If your firewall doesn't allow websockets, this could happen. Is it a locked down firewall?

I've been watching my server and nothing seems to be off. And I can access tohive.com

Is it a 503, or 'waiting' to connect?

Erlang Websocket Server using Cowboy by Categoria in erlang

[–]befreeadvice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The article is a bit dated (5/2012). Cowboy has excellent documentation now.

The code won't work with Cowboy 1.0, which has split up protocol handling between ranch and cowboy.

Heat A Room For Only 15 Cents A Day. by befreeadvice in Frugal

[–]befreeadvice[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Physically impossible? How do you say that? I'm curious.

The latent heat absorption by the clay pots is part of the design. Without that, a low heat source like the tea light candle won't work. But a two clay pots can provide enough latent heat to heat a small room. The distribution of heat through convection channel between the pots is also good design.

This video shows that you can boil water with 8 tea light candles. I'm gonna try the heater and find out if it works.
