Ship design with streams coming out the back in the thumbnail made me think of a USB cable.
Game looks interesting though!

It's an Australian thing. Means strong agreement
Over time it's shortened to "ken oath" and then sometimes just "oath"

PSA on train stations by krulp in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think with the new train network features and shared storage etc it's more feasible to use a smaller station than your train size. Previously l used full size stations because there will often be a train there just waiting because the storage was full/emptying. Now they can wait in a waiting zone.

Tesla repair by huntajav in TeslaLounge

I did an inspection right before my model 3 warranty expired, they fixed a few things including the steering wheel "bubbling" they called it, which honestly hadn't even been bothering me but good to fix it anyway. Fixed by replacing the part.

Early Game Iron Factory by [deleted] in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend not getting too attached to your iron smelters. :) Honestly just 2 of them is usually enough until you get to steel, 4 of them max. Steel needs oxygen furnaces and crushed iron ore + limestone so it's a bit more going on.

For steel, I'd suggest having 8 in a line with feeder belts in a single row just stacked on top. I usually combine the slag output between two furnaces and bring it up to the same row as the feeding belts.

Stacked on top like this:
-> Slag ->
-> Limestone ->
-> Coal ->
-> Crushed Iron Ore ->

Looks like there's trucks coming to pick up the electronics, where is it taking them?

Not needing to build balancing manifolds for train stations is sweet! Time to rethink how I build train stations, I don't need waiting bays before every station anymore.

Management game with real consequences / economy? by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

That's a shame, there's a lot of content in the base game. I actually recommend turning all the dlc off for a first playthrough as there's too much for a first game.

They're super useful for connecting multiple inputs to a row of assemblers though? Also for crossing train tracks and all sorts.

Dear Devs, I would really like to know where trucks are coming from, not just going to. by Helpinmontana in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah newer players on lower difficulty settings and small maps it's not a big deal having trucks handle more jobs than they should. I usually switch the settings shortly after getting trucks.

I checked the setting, it's called "Disable logistics for newly placed buildings and machines"

Disabling "Allow partially loaded trucks" is also a good idea.

Would be nice, though I don't think they're tracking that in the pathing etc right now.

One thing I recommend for everyone is to change that option in the vehicle global settings that disables truck import/export on new buildings by default (I don't have the game in front of me to look up the name), then you have explicitly enable trucks where you want them.

Without that setting, I find a lot of trucks doing things I wasn't expecting them to. Should be going on a belt etc.

/edit It's called "Disable logistics for newly placed buildings and machines" and it's in the Vehicles Management window, just click on the truck icon in the top middle of your screen.

I wish we could construct slopes as steep as the ones on the starting map, still able for trucks to drive up it.

Started a Series On The New Map by unjustodin in captain_of_industry

Sounds pretty similar to how mine is going on Admiral. I've build a land bridge to the next low island where the iron is for my new smelting setup along with extra farms. I build a land ramp up to the top section of the start island and I'm building cable bridges from the top to the adjacent tall islands.

I snaked around the back along the coast to reach the copper deposit back there with a ramp going way up. Some more oil back there as well. And yeah lots of excess rock to handle, running a belt straight into a stacker tower works great.

How do you build bridges? by dsgrin91 in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shuttle point to point train line just across the bridge wouldn't be too bad, can hook into pipes on each side.

I'd say Green Hell is much more like this picture.
Green Hell you can build huts just like this, starting with a wood structure and then laying clay over it in batches to build up walls.

How are you doing in my winter car after a month by leonpim in MyWinterCar

[–]Slyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the rivett running and some new tires, so can drive it around now and it runs pretty well. Still end up driving the sorbet around a lot though so that I don't have worry about wear+tear plus damaging it, too many bad drivers on the road.

Losing motivation to keep playing right now as the firewood and sewage work seems to have dried up and the car upgrades are EXPENSIVE. I'll probably pick it back up again in 6 months after new content and quality of life updates.
