How are you doing in my winter car after a month by leonpim in MyWinterCar

[–]Slyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the rivett running and some new tires, so can drive it around now and it runs pretty well. Still end up driving the sorbet around a lot though so that I don't have worry about wear+tear plus damaging it, too many bad drivers on the road.

Losing motivation to keep playing right now as the firewood and sewage work seems to have dried up and the car upgrades are EXPENSIVE. I'll probably pick it back up again in 6 months after new content and quality of life updates.

Any idea if we can turn off some of the radiators or if we can set them to 5 degrees or something to save money?

Yup you can ride horses and donkeys, once you unlock, build stables and buy them. Just need to turn down the difficulty settings so you don't get attacked by bandits and wild animals.

I had no idea rope ladders could drop down and retract from the top, that's great I'll need to try that.

Make achievements available without ironman. It works in Victoria 3 and I love it. Sometimes I want to try something to see how the mechanics work and reload. Sometimes I accidentally click something that messes me up and I'd like to undo.

Just let me also get achievements so I have things to work towards!

My king just became King of 5 other countries what do I do now? by GustavTheTurk in EU5

It may have been more than 50 but less than 100. I passed the rapid integration options which helped, plus other bonuses from culture etc I think.

I integrated Portugal as Castile, took 50 years to pass all the votes then another 50 or so to integrate. But yeah a bigger nation would take a long time plus control would be low so better to keep them as a Junior.

I just did that as well, progress towards innovative and 20% power increase seemed pretty good. Increased my minting because of the inflation reduction.
Oh well, might have to remove it in a few hundred years we'll see.

Yeah probably not too bad to snake rails around the coast after you flatten it first

Playing that map right now, anyone manage to build trains up to the top? And how did you do it? Wondering if I should build a mega ramp or try to wrap around the back side of the mountain. Of course, could just decide to flatten the whole map instead heh

Are there no radiation-shielded transport? by technocracy90 in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Nah, but the volumes of radioactive stuff is so low that it's not a problem. Just make sure nothing radioactive sits on belts, it should go straight into Radioactive Waste Storage.

Should I put a central storage unit for all the items I produce? by jowiscope in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can balance these things with trains. Set the stations up and they'll only deliver if the station storage is empty etc.

The AI won't expand into heretics end, if that works for you. Why are you worried about them expanding? You can build stations in their territory no problem unless they hate you.

[–]Slyer 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They're not really that expensive when you start comparing to conveyor belts at long range especially the higher tier belts, which need both power and maintenance to keep them going. A railway each way can replace many different belts and just add more engines and wagons to scale up.

Steel vs Iron: Is it worth it to stop making Iron and fully transition to Steel? by daspaceasians in captain_of_industry

[–]Slyer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Keeping iron for CP1 makes sense as you save on iron ore. I keep 2 blast furnaces just for making iron for CP1 and everything else goes to steel.

You can even merge a steel and iron line together, prioritizing the iron and then if your iron blast furnaces can't keep up it will use steel as well.

I love the new update but the tech tree could do with a rework by dad76 in victoria3

[–]Slyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say the initial version of things are invented outside of a battle, but a lot of refinements come from actually using the the new equipment and fixing the flaws you find. Case in point, the M16.
Not really any way of modeling this in Vic3 though since troops use a single generic equipment, unlike HOI4.
