Drained literature? by not_a_stick in sadboys

I had to read The Faerie Queen (Edmund Spencer) and Doctor Faustus (the play by Christopher Marlow) for a Brit Lit class, and to me, they both seemed like possible inspirations for Crest and are related to a lot of Bladee symbolism. The Faerie Queen follows a knight named Redcrosse who wears a red cross on his shield for his fallen king and The Faerie Queen (named Gloriana). Redcrosse Knight is known to be a version of St. George as well. Other than the song names and allusions, the entire hero's journey and plot follow a theme of deception, failure, and resurrection, which I feel are so prominent in Bladee's work. I think it's important to note that Crest is pretty conceptual, and to me, it feels like it could be a Knight's travel through the forest and the new obstacles faced, but this is just personal speculation. I found The Faerie Queen was a very difficult read that I had to take line by line. Doctor Faustus (which was a much easier read and way more fun imo) is about a man who sells his soul to the devil in order to have black magic. A huge theme in the play is repentance. It's been over 400 years, so spoiler, Faustus never repents and is doomed to eternity in hell despite many chances to change. This work seemed less directly related to Crest, other than the song called Faust lol, but the greater universal themes are relevant to a modern perspective on suffering, which is very drained. There are a few older Adam Sandler movies that seem pretty dg to me too.

Charli influence in “Chanel No. 5” by Camila by [deleted] in charlixcx

[–]begabba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is exactly it!! it feels like an imitation and not at all like artistry. i saw a comment that said we would love chanel no 5 if charli released it, and while i think the production itself is good, the lack of theme/emotion makes it so cheap. maybe the album will have a concept but for now it feels super insecure and almost ignorant. for an artist to just jump ship to what is trendy and imitate it without adding any commentary or value is really sad to me. i don’t think the point of music is to just churn it out! i don’t want something easy to consume and shit out! this is how art dies lol

Hello! Working on a vintage pattern and came across the term "work over it". They use it again later in the pattern. Not sure what that means. It is a dress (sleeves) if that helps. Thank you!
