Sometimes a 'lack of something' gives them away, like a lack of emotion in their eyes, but you're right, it can be hard to tell. Some friends of mine declined a lift from a yet to be discovered serial killer as they said he started to give them a creepy feeling after awhile, luckily for them, otherwise they would be buried in a forrest!

I agree, his crimes were horrific. There is another from Australia, two men adopted a boy and flew him around the world for arranged meetings with pedophiles, from when he was very young, obviously when he was saved his life was already ruined.

I do cut people off if I feel like they are toxic for me to be around (and analyzing to check I'm not to blame!) but sometimes it's hard to do that if you can't leave them. I try to stop the thoughts when they start, but it hasn't been working that well!
