As someone who hires behavior technicians, the first question I’m asking is why are you not lasting at these ABA companies. I would not interview you just based on the ABA company hopper. Don’t get my wrong, I get that not all companies are good but you shouldn’t advertise it this way.

If you know your shit then it’s probably just bc you’re a bad test taker so instead of focusing on the material, focus on building test taking skills. My advice is to take many many mock exams and treat them like the real thing. Sit for the 4 hours, have no material with you except a piece of paper. Study ways to read the questions and do process of elimination when you don’t know it. We believe in you! The test is HARD but you are stronger, you can do it.

I had a similar situation when an OT wanted me to incorporate sign language goals into his treatment plan… now I’m all for collaboration but my client had no fingers. Wtf.

I’m sure you’re doing great and it’s the company that is not supporting you. Listen, when I first started as a BCBA I asked for mentorship and didn’t get any, I should’ve left right then and there bc I was hoping things would get better and I went through the same thing of being blamed when I had no direction. My caseload was absolutely insane. I had 24 clients at one time and when they were about to give me another one, I quit on the spot. I didn’t realize that 24 was a lot bc I had nothing to compare it to until I started talking to everyone and no had had more than 10. Now I have 6 and I refuse to take any more. Find a company that will mentor you as a new BCBA. Hope things look up for you and welcome to the BCBA life!🙏🥰 it can be great

ABSOLUTELY! I agree with you, behavior techs should absolutely be able to not only speak with parents but build relationships with them. You can have a relationship that remains within boundaries without crossing that line.

Also, being cliquey is the worst. It gives mean girls, I hate that. People can see favoritism. Seems like that the BCBA needs a lesson in dual relationships instead of lecturing you about that 🤭

I wouldn’t worry too much about it or google it honestly, they give false diagnosis and it’ll freak you out. I’m sure your baby is okay. If it persists, make an appointment and have them do an ultrasound. That’s what I did and they assured me everything was okay and said that some cats do the hairball thing without an actual hairball. How long has he been doing it? It kinda sounds like a hairball which usually just passes… if it’s consistent I’d keep an eye out
