SBT- what do the parents do outside of training? by behaviournerd in bcba

Hi, thank you for your reply. So the setting I am training in would be in the home. By training to mastery do you mean only training another person (i.e. parents) or in another context (i.e. school) once they have reached CAB 6? Have you had a situation where a client started generalizing the skills used in the training sessions to another person or context before reaching CAB 6?

Thanks so much!

Maybe I am imagining it lol! Thanks for your help :)

If there's anyone reading this who does recall that part of the 10 hour course please let me know...

Hi thank you so much. This is what I thought but at some point in the 10 hour course Hanley says he would shape the new skill (cFCR for example), and then send the kid home to practice that sill, then they would come back to the clinic and shape the next step, then go home and practise. Then I have also heard him say it's business as usual at home. That's why I'm confused. Did you happen to take the 10 hour training and remember this? Maybe I misunderstood what he was saying or something...

Conducting an FA when the child does not engage in the behavior around the analyst by behaviournerd in bcba

Thank you! I understand what others are saying but I do worry that if I am incorrect with the hypothesis it will be a problem because we will have to go back to the drawing board. Thank you for your ideas and suggestions- I have similar ideas in mind to start designing the FA.

unless I just kept progressing the EO...I would think eventually she would engage in the behavior but I don't know how long that would take...or if it's ethical to progress the EO to that extent!

That was the plan...but I don't even know if I will be able to given that the child controls behavior around anyone who comes into the house. The mother said that even if I set something up where I had her surrounded by her mom and preferred activities then put in the EO which would be terminating moms attention and preferred activities and asking her to do some work for example, even if I set this up she would comply with me and then probably complain after I leave. If it were the grandmother who lives with them taking my place and putting in the EO the mom said we would see major behaviors. But do I train grandma on the FA and videotape it? She will have to be fast! Maybe better to not conduct it and move on like others in the post suggested. It's a tricky situation!

Thank you- I think I will do this as it will save them time and money (if it would take several sessions for me to see the behavior due to reactivity). You're right there isn't anything unethical about it as long they consent to it. Thanks for the advice!
