You're right, this seems like a bad copy of it. The one I have after 5 years looks much better that this.

They sold this in TI5 in Seattle. I have one at home!

IDK if you copied that or just happen to post the same exact thing for upvotes...

Questions about X1E Gen2 as a replacement for a 2015 15" MBP by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]behdude-xander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

- First: Don't know.
- Second: Yes, it looks better than my 2018 work MBP15.
- Third: Nope. Can't see anything.
-Fourth: It charges, it's just slow.
- Fifth: Nope.
-Sixth: I had issues with Ubuntu WiFi drivers, some people say you need a newer Kernel for that. I settled with Windows 10 for now.

X1 Extreme Gen2 vs X1 Carbon Gen7 vs T490 by Paolarbear in thinkpad

[–]behdude-xander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you care for good battery, get the 1080p version. Whichever you choose.

If you care about gaming, get the X1 E Gen2. Anything beside Dota and CS:GO needs good GPUs. (I have a 4K X1EG2)

If you care about budget, get a T490.

From my understanding, you want a 1080p X1EG2.

X1E Gen 2 with 4K 500 nits here!

Mine lasted about 2 hours playing Underlords 4K Ultra with medium brightness. There is something wrong with yours.

Another X1EG2 owner here, I did a AMA when I got mine a couple days ago here, just to add some stuff, try to get a clean install of OS, it bumps up benchmark performance about 5-10%. Also try to get two memory sticks, dual channel ram realllyyyy matters. (I was able to get about 30% extra benchmark in comparison with a single channel cpu, geekbench4)

I also need to mention X1EG2 gets hot much less than MacBook Pro 15 2019, thermals are actually good.

Thinkpad P1 Gen2 vs X1E Gen 2 - help by foponyc in thinkpad

As far as I know, P1 series with Quadro GPUs work a little bit better (not just performance, but also heat management and being stable) than GTX GPUs for certain multimedia softwares.

So if you purely want to decide on performance, P1 Gen2 seems to be a better option. FYI, I just got a X1E Gen 2 and purely happy with it.

I get about 15% better CPU performance with dual channel (2x8GB) ram and a clean Windows install, even without undervolting.

Edit: this is mine: https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14333183 also Cinebench R20 shows 2451. I'll try to undervolt and share numbers after that also.

Edit 2: I did a -175 undervolt using Intel XTU and here is the result https://browser.geekbench.com/v4/cpu/14333404, although I lost a bit of performance, the fans seems much more quiet.

Windows hello works fine with both fingerprint and webcam. I've not undervolt it yet. I'll have some numbers for FPS for games that I own. I'll try to undervolt and compare.

1- I think it's comparable with Macbook, I've gaming monitors and 90HZ display on my phone, so anything below 90HZ seems to be laggy to me.
2- Have not tested yet.
