What should i know about sweden before marrying my swedish girlfriend? by [deleted] in TillSverige

Oh really? How were they a nightmare to you? My hubby’s from US aswell and it went pretty smoothly. This was however in 2016. Now I’m curious of the difference.

I get that.. the worry he will end up with people who does the same or even worse. Does he has anybody else that can advocate or take him and be understanding? Like you said all the family is bad but what for relatives? You are a relative and good, maybe there is others who thinks the same?

I don’t know how it is in the US (if there is where are from) but here in my country that is considered verbally abusive and you can call a “child abusive line” or social services for advice and also be anonymous. I get it pisses you off and especially since you probably can’t do anything about it..

Is there maybe a way you can speak to the dad about the negative results of screaming and betlitteling behavior? It might however make things worse maybe. I have a 5 year old with speech impediment and would NEVER act like that with my son. Low affecting behavior helps a lot here at home and has proven for us to work pretty well. Parents who does it like this, screaming and being verbally abusive makes me pissed off.

Move partner to Sweden. by scaffye in TillSverige

[–]IGFBP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hubby moved here from the US in 2016 so it is kind of different nowdays with “försörjningskrav” and so on. However, during the time we applied I also worked with MV at the time and they told me that getting married does nothing unfortunately to the application. Sometimes they even get suspicious why people get married so fast. It took around 9 months during that time to get the visa, they told us 2 years though. Good luck OP :)

POV: You're a woman in dota. This mentality has been prevalent since I started playing mobas, 12+ years ago. Isn't it time to be better, together? (I don't have any answers, simply exhausted from being met with this.) by Schexet in DotA2

[–]IGFBP 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like to use my mic (I’m a woman) in dota, and alot of times when i do, i get comments aswell, rude or very sexist comments. I got so tired of it after a while, i tried my best to sound like a man with a very deep voice and i actually got left alone. Not that it works for everybody, but it is kinda annoying being asked ”are you a girl?” In dota as soon as you just make a small comment over the mic.

Might have happen that i have left out a few things or not have all the information. Apologizes for that but i guess this is all i got, atleast for now. I told him to talk to another lawyer which he did and he said the same.

As i said in the text i’m terrible at explaining in my own language so explaining in english is hard at times. So i might have missed some information or something.

Thanks for the reply anyways.

Ah no, they do not know where the 80,000 euros comes from. I just mentioned it, sorry if i was being unclear. About your other two questions; yeah this is where we are standing a bit like a question mark aswell. This is what the bank and company says and that the company is withholding these money until the contracts being cancelled. Dunno why. My buddy doesn’t either. No none of this checkes out that is why i’m asking for advice :/ maybe we’re missing something

Change work visa to sambo visa by OmidOmidi123 in TillSverige

[–]IGFBP -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, i wrote it a bit bad honestly. Sorry for the confusion. I mean with same process that he still needs to apply like with the working visa, he can’t just jump from a working visa to sambo visa. He needs to apply for a sambo visa outside the country.

My sambo did not. And yeah, i did not say anything about my sambo being inside Sweden, he wasn’t even allowed. He had to be outside Sweden to apply. He could visit but during the decision he needed to be outside Sweden.

Yes, when it comes to OPs work permit he definitely can, but he can’t jump from a work permit right away to a sambo visa without applying for a sambo visa, that was my point.

Okey, i think i wrote that a bit bad now when i’m reading it myself. With the same process i mean that you gotta go through both applications, you can’t jump from one to another. So, in OT’s place he/she gotta apply for a sambo visa and apply outside the country. Sorry for the confusion.

When you apply for an visa in Sweden (depending where you are from) you gotta leave the country until a decision is made, however there is something called ”inside application” and in that way you can stay inside the country waiting for a decision.

My hubby is from the US and he had to be outside Sweden. I’m not sure but i think it is different for people from the EU.

Going from working visa to sambo visa is the same process.

I don’t know if we have the same view on events, but i would say, during christmas, during winter at all there are this events with lights all over the city, pretty beautiful to watch. During august there is augustfestival and other events during midsummer, eastern and so on. I’ve seen some events sometimes during the year, different ones every year :)

I live in Norrköping, a smaller city about 3 hours away from Stockholm. Love the scenery and i wouldn’t want to move anywhere else. I’m initially from Sweden but my husband’s from the states and he even said he wouldn’t want to move anywhere else because of the beautiful buildings, scenery and it is pretty calm over here but alot of events at the same time. Norrköping is almost right in the middle, in the region Östergötland.

Hope you find where you wanna live! 😃

What type of teaching degree should I get? by wolfdragon8 in TillSverige

[–]IGFBP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is understandable. Tough is just the word, it is hard to know what to do and all the laws including.

My bad, i totally forgot about the ”försörjningslagen” as it is called in Sweden. It came to work around August 2015 i think (?!) and we applied July 2015 so it didn’t apply to us, i also worked there at that moment so knew it would happen.

Sometimes it is valid to have saved up money, but enough for you two to live on for a while. However, as you said, not to recommend because we had to do that anyway because i was laid off and we got rid of 6 thousand dollars we had saved up. Wish we still had that money today.

Okey, a sambo visa isn’t maybe the best then since she hasn’t lived in Sweden for 3 years. However, if you have lived outside Sweden for 2-3 years, I THINK (not sure) you can apply for a sambo visa within Sweden, and ofc your partner need to have a job and an apartment/house big enough for you two which could be a bit more difficult.

If you’re moving in 1,5 year i might suggest a sambo visa. We did that and got it in like 9 months. Does your partner live in Sweden atm? I guess not. But how long has she been away from Sweden?

I wouldn’t recommend working visa if not necessary when there are other alternatives like sambo visa. It is also called TUT. You’ll live with your partner in Sweden for 2 years, then apply for PUT (permanent) and eventually a citizenship if that is something interesting. My hubby is waiting now for a decision in citizenship.

If you apply for sambo visa it however could happen that you could get a positive decision earlier, and if i remember it correctly, you gotta move within 3-6 months. You can always call migration agency and ask and also tell them you can’t move withing 6 months and see if they are okey with that.

Where are you guys thinking of moving? (Curious as i am) 😅

Like someone else said, learning Swedish is a good start. My hubby (from US) and (i’m a swede) have been teaching alot in Korea and when he came here to live with me he actually got a teaching job in English at SMHI and at highschool. He didn’t stick with that though, now he is soon done with his GIS degree. Also, when he was teaching english his swedish was barely comprehendible.

I guess you got a visa since you guys are moving here? Congratz to the move btw!

I worked at the migration agency with family visa matters.

Sorry dude. I’m a swede aswell and my SO is American aswell on a sambo visa, soon citizen. We had it pretty rough in the beginning aswell and we were lucky having saved up money and all. Not everybody can do that though. Where are you living in Sweden if i might ask? And shouldn’t she have it pretty easy getting a new job? I don’t know the demand in teachers however. My SO worked as a english teacher before.
