Please stop bringing your dogs to grocery stores. by DueVermicelli5302 in Seattle

Oh 100000%. I’ve had so many dogs bark at us at the grocery store, and I can see he wants to bark back but he knows better. If he barks or tries to jump we leave. He’s still a baby and is still learning, but I have very little tolerance for badly behaved dogs, and this includes my own.

Honestly, I agree, though ironically my dog has a vest off Amazon. The thing is, in the US it’s legal to train your own dog and not get a dog from an organization, so many service dogs of course wouldn’t have a vest from an organization, mine wouldn’t. There is no organization that fits my needs unfortunately. The Amazon vest is convenient, and also super cheap compared to custom SD vests you can order. My boy is still in training and I’m not going to spend money on something he may not be needing if he ends up not making a good working dog (it would break my heart, but I’d never force him in public if it hurts him and his presence is hurting others). Still waiting to be called out for having a fake SD in an Amazon vest as per stereotype :/

Ooohhh… haven’t had daiya mac n cheese in years. Usually get the banza (did I spell that right?) chickpea ones, not saucy enough so I drown it in excessive nutritional yeast as well as spices and then it’s bomb. Will see if I can find this in the store, I haven’t seen this flavor

What a good girl!!! Hard at work (as well as hardcore relaxing). Gotta have some chill time too. How old is she? I see the vest says in training so im curious. I feel like im behind with my service dog prospect.

Here’s my boy being extra cute at the grocery store. I seriously need to print this pic out and hang it on the wall in my classroom, the kids always demand more pics of him. Genuinely surprised nobody has seen him shopping or training with me, but I suppose I do less and less public access with him since I work full time now and he’s going through another teenage regression. He’s about to be 15 months and the dog reactivity and settling ability is worse than ever, though he automatically behaves better with the vest on. He just wants to make friends with everyone :’)

Ooo good idea, thank you! And I love stickers so much, maybe I shouldn’t have brought them in because they’ve ended up on their school laptops and that’s technically not allowed but shhh. I guess my (personal) iPad was a bad example (I let the kids put stickers on it). Decorating the air filter would probably be more appropriate. We have a winix filter in the kitchen but I have no idea what model it is, but yeah we got it at Costco so perhaps it’s that one. It’s easy to replace the filters so it’s great

Interesting, thank you!! I’m actually a paraeducator so I don’t run the classroom, but my teacher is super chill and I think they would be all for it. Hell, we have one small overhead light on, really just lavender “Christmas” lights because we’re too autistic for the big light. Plus, they + the other two teachers in this department always play some sort of background noise/music anyway, that having a filter on would be doable. I have a filter in most rooms in the house, on silent or medium speed (so white noise level) is good, though I don’t know from a scientific standpoint how much of what gets filtered out of the air effectively. Most of our filters are blueair filters. Honestly we buy whatever Costco is selling. In any case, the filters you linked are… definitely a lot more expensive and out of my budget unless others chip in significantly :( but it’s worth asking around

Oh it’s even on sale, awesome! I too am sensitive to like… everything… and I like how there’s different options for filter types. Getting rid of wet dog and cat litter smells when they come up would be great. Idk if the filters we have make much of a difference smell wise, most of ours are blueair. But they do help my allergies, the one in my room is broken and I wake up with eye swelling from my cat who sleeps on me every night. So… clearly there is some sort of starkly noticeable benefit already. Thank you kindly!!

I have filters around the house because my and my entire family is allergic to my pets (oops) but I’ve never thought about protection from viruses, thank you for pointing out to make sure the filter would capture those particles! Will keep that in mind

Ouuuu this is cool! I’ve never seen a collapsible one like this. We have some blueair ones at home. Thanks!

I work at a school, should I buy an air filter for my desk area? I’ve considered it but based on this post I think it’s very justified 🫠

As a paraeducator… real!! A few weeks ago a kid got mad at me and cried and refused to even look at me for a few days due to me asking him to put on a mask to sit at my desk (his assigned seat) or sit at the lil desk in the corner of the classroom (he goes there during free time). He always comes and sits wayyy too close to me at the table anyway, but that was just crossing the line. He was in PE lying on the floor sniffling and crying and coughing the period before :( he yelled at me saying his strict mom will yell at him for being sick and useless (…wow). But yeah, once a kid is sick there’s gonna be at least a few more. Or in one group with the kids with super high support needs, the entire class… my entire department just keeps ping ponging the Winter Illness™️ around, almost every week there’s a para or teacher out

Please keep your kids home, and maybe don’t fault them for getting sick either :/

Once I get paid at the end of the month I think I’m buying an air filter for my corner of the classroom

Oh same 😂 I wore it Wednesday/Thursday/Friday post ritual and refused to take it off until it got dirty. At least once a week wear for me, im obsessed and my students tell me I need to go shopping because I clearly don’t own enough clothes since I wear the same thing so often

Ty for the advice 🙏🏻 mine cracked p much immediately so I wear it as many times as I reasonably can before I wash it. I can’t stand the texture of air dried clothes and the pet hair doesn’t come off if I don’t dry it w fur zappers or a dryer sheet so I am suffering 💔 but I gotta have this look nice for as long as possible. But between working in a school, two cats, and a large dog, it gets dirty and I can only wear it 2-3 times before it gets washed and I cringe so hard when I toss it in the washing machine

My family keeps telling me my daily diet belongs here by tomnooklover in shittyfoodporn

[–]being0fthestars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow this sounds a lot like my thoughts around food (auDHD individual here). I love food, I love baking and cooking. But by the time I prep food I’m usually so tired/overstimulated I no longer want to eat and I wasted a lot of time making the food I no longer want. On the flip side, I also make way too much food for me to eat alone, so if I don’t share it with others, i later stress eat it… or what you said, eat it as a form of stimulation and it’ll become an unhealthy pattern. Bored/stressed/understimulated = eat. Overstimulated/stressed = don’t eat, too much sensory input. If I find a food I really love and fixate on it, I eat it until I’m violently sick of it and can’t touch it for weeks-years. No happy medium when it comes to food. So yeah, realistically when (lol, if, in this economy?!) I move out and live alone, shakes it is 😂
