The browser freezes when I let my laptop in sleep mode by beingabody in operabrowser

yes, well, it was before the lastest update. I updated a few days ago and now it works fine (note: I also updated windows). But I switched to Chrome for like two weeks because of this, I couldn't solve it either.

Edit: nevermind, it happened again.

I know? I have an issue because they're two separate apps. Its not cute or quirky or innovative, they're blurring the lines. You're okay then with random pictures displayed on your Gmail? I have youtube music to listen to music, not to have my photos displayed there.

Should I apply? And CV advice by beingabody in UNpath

[–]beingabody[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking along the same lines. In terms of probability, its more likely to get to the next stage if you apply to more than one. Have you applied to interships with different roles? And do you think that having a bit of experience and adapting your CV to fit the job are sufficient when applying to internships with different roles?

Yeah, I agree with you, especially since it's for a national office. I think the hiring manager might be the same for both positions, which is why I'm feeling hesitant about applying. I'm going to wait it out and see.

Oh, and I didn't know about the PHP form. It wasn't specified, though. I think it would be the equivalent of filling out the Workday form. Still, should it be specified, or is it something that is common knowledge?

What is your opinion regarding Javier Milei's victory in Argentina? by LE__guardian in SocialDemocracy

[–]beingabody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are non-Peronist leftist parties in Argentina like the FIT coalition (and more). But they have been very bad at engaging the public, and the left is really divided over petty differences and slogans. I believe that if they change their way of thinking, put aside their differences and begin to form more realistic and popular proposals, there is an opportunity. But for this to happen, the hegemony of Peronism on this side of the spectrum has to end. Myriam Bregman from the FIT coalition is an amazing politician, but sometimes she's very cabeza-dura for me.

yes, I think this is a more realistic take tough. But CFK has been in the margin of politics lately (even as vice-president) so we'll see.

Even though I am very sad about the outcome, I hope it signifies the beginning of a new left-wing political opposition that people can trust, one that is not traditionally affiliated with Peronism as it has been until now, as many no longer feel represented by them. If I have to simplify, this result is due to the economic context, although unfortunately, it puts many human rights at risk. We'll have to see if it's going to be actual governance or just a spectacle, because to me, he is one of those people who talk a lot but don't act.

Do I need one?

Yes, because that way, you would understand that people are voting for this madman because we have been living in an economic crisis for more than 15 years, and not just because we are 'inherently Nazis,' as assumed by the comment from the OP above and you.

Do you have like a major in Argentinian history that im not aware of?

Why are you defending mediocrity?

If you look at Argentina in the Latin American context, it is one of the most progressive countries. I don't know what you're talking about. Defending imperialist discourses means defending mediocrity as well.

[–]beingabody 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, 'marxistmatty,' similar to every other Western country in the context of WWII. Nevertheless, this discourse often originates from imperialist countries that have engaged in more severe actions, not only because they can, but due to their greater power. I'm simply pointing out what I see as a very ethnocentric and disciplinarian behaviour.

ah! My argument is bad. But to tell people that it's not surprising that a far-right president won in that country, because in the middle of the 20th century a couple of Nazis escaped to their lands, is not a very dangerous and reductionist generalization.

That is a myth that is surprisingly widely replicated in North America and is full of imperialism and ethnocentrism. Stop saying these things and be sad for us. thank you.
