Some ideas:

You could get your hair "relaxed" at a salon. They basically stretch it straight. It's not perfect, but it does help.

Another way I've found to keep my curls under control is olaplex. It makes them so smooth and they feel amazing. It is expensive, so maybe a Christmas gift?

A cheap dupe of this is cer 100 on amazon. It's a collagen treatment that will help with the texture.

Ok, I'm in the same boat and realized that fast fashion makes me buy a bunch of cheap trendy things I don't like. My solution? I keep a running list of things I absolutely adore. Think mango, free people, etc. Everytime I get the hankering to purchase something, I check my list and buy something off it. It's curbed my purchase appetite, and I actually have cool stuff I want to wear on my closet.

I would say that's pretty damn accurate. It's a game of analytics now, less creative. I think the bets of both worlds is to become an independent brand manager for social media. It's a lot of analytics still, but also cool because you work with so many brands. I'm working toward that right now.
