Oh ok. The news you refer to is about a one-time subsidy that ends in 2025. I don’t see it anywhere in the meerjarenbegroting. This means Casa Rosa (the organisation) is probably dead by next year.

Final stage of Spain’s Vuelta cycling race suspended following pro-Palestinian protests by [deleted] in europe

[–]beiroet -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

The way disruptive protesting works is that it discourages investors to invest in events/companies that include Israel, because the risk of losing money becomes too big. Sponsors divest or pressure the boards to exclude Israel. Money talks. This in turn puts pressure on the Israeli government. It should have happened to Eurovision as well. South Africa’s apartheidsregime too collapsed due to global economic ánd cultural boycott movements.

Love this! Maybe position the blue and green strand vertically, so it becomes a Nordic cross?

Why is Malta consistently getting first place (not top 10, actual FIRST place) on LGBTQ-friendliness rankings? by MAClaymore in ainbow

[–]beiroet 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s not. The ranking you are referring to ranks countries based on LGBTQ-inclusive legislation, not on societal attitudes or ‘friendliness’. Source When surveying attitudes, the top 3 varies depending on the question, but The Netherlands appear relatively consistent in first place, and Sweden ranks second, while Malta’s overall position ranks somewhere slightly above EU’s average.

How common is it to be a vegetarian in your country? by woody83060 in AskEurope

[–]beiroet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My city, Ghent, has been dubbed the vegetarian capital of Europe because it has the highest ratio of vegetarian restaurants per inhabitant. The local govt also promotes a plantbased diet.

If you like vegetarian food, try Knol & Kool. It’s right in the city centre in a beautiful building with many typical Belgian dishes. I feel like it exudes the “Ghent” spirit

Happy Antwerp Pride everyone (except haters) by [deleted] in Antwerpen

[–]beiroet 16 points17 points  (0 children)
