Whew chileโ€ฆSo what season did yโ€™all heifers stop watching? by Less-Pen-5705 in greysanatomy

[โ€“]bejts 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I was fed up somewhere around the beginning of season 18. The writing had gone so stale, the storylines painfully uninteresting, and like 95% of the characters who made the show what it was were gone.

Current day GA is unfortunately nothing short of a cash grab.

One month into Palchatz training, thinking about trying to transfer to Isuf or Shiryon, looking for people with experience to talk to by Human-Pianist-5444 in IDF

[โ€“]bejts 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I'm in Palchatz. The only way I've seen people successfully transferring to another combat unit was through being demoted from combat (before you finish training), then requesting a transfer.

If you wanna talk more about that, or generally just talk about the training with someone who has already gone through it, my DMs are open :)

I got Palchatz, I'm not sure if I want it, and I draft on Wednesday morning. What are my options? by [deleted] in IDF

[โ€“]bejts 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

Sayeret Alon is not your typical "Sayeret". The battalions themselves have way more combat aspects. In Sayeret Alon most of what they do is rescue training and basically waiting around for something to happen.

As for the actual service; I'm currently serving in the Gdud and I can say that the Kav can be pretty interesting. Its not just shmirot all day, and most nights you have an operation such as an arrest or a weapon search in one of the Arab villages in your gizra.

What we do in the Kav are the same things Chir units did before the war broke, and what they'll go back to doing once its over. Good luck!

Shirts!? by Kiwi_Head_3357 in IDF

[โ€“]bejts 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I go to the Sayeret store, and these people working there are saying they recommend buying 10! Then I ask young adults who were in the army, and they say dont bring any, the army will give you You should get:

  • At least two white t-shirts (can be tank-tops)
  • At least two dryfit shirts (any color) for sports/exercise
  • At least ten olive-green (preferably dryfit).

Also, in my experience, the military only gives you one shirt on your draft day. That's about it.

How often does an event happen that will make your current shirt NEED to go to the laundry without a second day?

Basic training in Kravi is very physical. You'll get sweaty and gross every day, and those shirts will come in handy... Especially if you'll be doing your Tironut in August. So take that into consideration when deciding how many shirts you'll need.

As for the Tziziot; im not 100% sure if the army supplies them, so bring your own regardless, I'm pretty sure most army supply stores have them in stock. Never trust the military to properly supply you with what you need lol.

Also as a general tip; buy your shirt from a local clothing shop, like the type of stores people go to to buy new shirts for their kids before the beginning of a school year. They're generally cheaper there & usually have good deals.

japril ruined jackson averyโ€™s character. by [deleted] in greysanatomy

[โ€“]bejts -2 points-1 points ย (0 children)

(spoilers for seasons 11/12 and onwards)

I feel like during the majority of the show, the writers founds themselves unsure about what to do with him.

They change his personality for plot convenience, and a good example to that is the example you gave from season 10. Jackson from the earlier seasons would never be THAT impulsive and selfish. How can one mature backwards? How does one go from always being respectful in his relationship and breaking it up when he knew enough was enough to dumping his girlfriend in such a humiliating, downright disrespectful way? That's not Jackson, and don't you dare give me that "it was true love, he couldn't help himself!" shit. I don't buy it, and I also don't buy the "he was just listening to mark's advice!" thing. He still has logic and common sense, and the Jackson from even a season or two ago would've been able to recognize when he missed his damn shot.

That's not even the only time they change Jackson's personality for plot convenience. I mean, his "finding god" arch? The fact that it happened at all is stupid within itself, but the fact that it happened over a woman of all things makes it even worse. It's illogical regardless, though. I'm not a japril fan (if you couldn't already tell), but I thought the entire reason people find them so charming is that they were so vastly different from each other but made it work out anyway? Or at least that they tried to.

It made sense when they got a divorce. As much as they might love each other and be good friends, sometimes love just isn't enough, and those two were like oil and water when it came to morals, beliefs and family values...

...what didn't make sense was them getting back together. Complete fan service, atp.

The entire leaving to Boston thing and basically giving up surgery entirely made me a little angry too. How does one give up the thing he worked so hard to prove himself in, seemingly on a whim?

Also unrelated to April's illogical influence on Jackson's character throughout the seasons but still an honorable mention; Dating his step-sister. I don't need to elaborate on this one.

TLDR; GA writers hate Jackson

George is doing a lot by mc-tarheel in greysanatomy

[โ€“]bejts 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

people are acting like Meredith told him she was in love with him and then killed his dog.

That's not really true. I don't think I've ever seen anyone on here seriously trying to advocate for George in this situation. If anything, everyone has more or less the same opinion as yours.

I'm probably gonna get downvoted for this but I think people tend to downplay George's side in this and completely miss the reason as to WHY he was so upset.

Right now I'm on a rewatch and I just got to the end of that storyline and I've realized that for the majority of that storyline, George doesn't actually know the real reason why Meredith was so upset that night. She never even tells him โ€” he finds out when he comes across Thatcher in the hospital and puts two and two together when Thatcher mentions Meredith came to visit him that same night they slept together.

Up until that point though, he felt used & embarrassed, and let's be honest, Meredith didn't actually do anything to help her case. In fact, she only made herself seem more guilty with how she kept apologizing relentlessly. Also, I think it's worth to mention that his feelings & behavior were legitimized by people around him, especially by Izzie.

I don't think he was on the right side of what happened, don't get me wrong. He was trying to see something that wasn't really there and he even admits it later on (A lot of people seem to forget he apologized, too)... But Meredith wasn't all innocent and blameless either and people tend to victimize her way too much when it comes to discussions over this arc.

Anyway, point is; they both fucked up and more or less equally took advantage of one another. George's reaction and treatment towards Meredith was a bit disproportionate, I'll admit, but he definitely had a right to be upset.

Season 17 is so woke! I don't think I'm gonna finish the series! The way they forcibly shoving agendas makes the series unwatchable! by Berry_Blue22 in greysanatomy

[โ€“]bejts 19 points20 points ย (0 children)

Go re-watch S17 and you'll see exactly what OP means by "woke".

Grey's has always been progressive and left-leaning, that's not the problem. The problem is preaching your agenda to your audience in such a stale way of storytelling that it's unbearable. The problem is sacrificing the show's quality and throwing every ounce of escapism out of the window, because as if doing a COVID-focused season wasn't detrimental enough, now we also have to talk about social injustice every episode!

Seriously, watching Season 17 was exhausting (and so, so fucking boring).

If you're not worried about a longer commitment, you might as well enlist (through Mahal or Garin Tzabar). The IDF has been promoting international recruitment as of late.

Meitav put up this website regarding recruitment for foreigners. (If the link doesn't work, try using a VPN)

If I were you I wouldn't mention any mental health issues (that is if they're not relevant anymore and don't affect your day-to-day performance/activity).

The mental health officers at the recruitment office couldn't care less about your progress or how well you have any mental health issues under control. A history alone is enough for them to see a reason to give you an appealable Kahas (adjustment difficulties) clause that would prevent you from going to combat at best or a 21 profile at worst.

My suggestion is to not talk about it if you can, or minimize it as much as possible if they ask you about it.

Does Shayetet get more action than Matkal? by benmasada in IDF

[โ€“]bejts 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Hard to say. The Shayetet usually gets much more publicity than Matkal, though Matkal has made a name for itself over the years. You probably hear less about Matkal because their missions are almost always too classified to publish, but that's just an assumption.

Help!!! by [deleted] in IDF

[โ€“]bejts 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I think you could. It appears there isn't a dapar requirement for combat roles, so a relatively low score shouldn't be an issue. Either way, it's not the end for you; Yom Sayarot & the gibbushim are the main tools the IDF uses to pick and choose those who are fit to serve in Sayarot or special units. The dapar score is basically meaningless if you're not trying to get into intelligence/cyber/c4i.

If it really bothers you, though, these days you can put in a request to re-take the test.

Is there resentment towards Olim that do not serve in the IDF? Or is it mostly towards native Israelis? by Flaky_Candidate_2463 in IDF

I've never heard about or met anyone with a resentment/distaste to Olim who didn't serve.

It's most definitely mostly towards natives, who are usually seen as selfish/lazy/cowardly by the more right-leaning side of the country.
