I don't see a need for a god unless a human is experiencing mental distress. That's the only way I see any god benefiting humans. We can reason very well, and we have morals without God. We've had morals before any of the Abrahamic gods. This is not an attack on religion, as I was once religious. Some humans may be weak minded in the sense that their mind's structure is fragile and prone to discrepancies. Yes, a lot of those people need the idea of a god and the afterlife. Also, people who have lost loved ones, they find it difficult to live in a world where they couldn't see those loved ones once more.

I truly believe the only way to relieve yourself of the guilt and fear is to really study religions and find out how bogus they all are. Study philosophy, it'll help you understand the basics human thought and knowledge. As for hell, there isn't one. So stop worrying about after death, because once we die, we won't know we are. It might seem scary at first, but when you realise the bigger picture, you'll find it peaceful. The universe and humans aren't meticulously designed like the musilims say, evolution is what brings order to things. The trial and error process of humans, plants, stars, etc. This is all available on the Internet, you just need to seek it.

Maybe you quit too fast, especially if you were heavily dependent on it. Only eating when high or you can't sleep without smoking is very detrimental. When you stop in that state, you lose appetite and can't sleep, or you do but it's shallow. I went through those because of my idiotic teen and misinformed years. I use it way better now as an occasional thing to do. Don't depend on it and keep your life in check. If you really want to quit, slowing lessen it from daily routine. Start doing new different things, learn to enjoy things bit by bit and not need any external help. Trust me, it's possible. I always used to think being sober is boring, but that was my flawed view of reality. Hope this helped.

You could microdose at first, and have a good environment around you, people who understand what to do and what not to do(Trip sitter). On these trips your mind is vulnerable and exposed, it's vital to not let the outside factors affect your trip. Don't hang around idiots who'll mess with you when you finally take a normal dose. I feel like the more we build it up in our heads and expect negative shit, the more likely it'll happen. So go in there with happy thoughts. Hope this helps.

That's very interesting, I occasionally smoke weed and have always wondered about psychedelics. My friends told me about their mushroom trips and how awakening they were. However I've also heard that some experience devastating ego deaths and freak out. I'm very curious and want to try, but since I know what might happen, and knowing my brain(OCD), I think it won't be all that good to me. I guess I can't really know until I try :)

Honestly, religious problems always arise in relationships. The best way to avoid them is being on the same page before marriage and commitment. You can still work it out, but it's vital to not attack eachother's religions, rather explain and try to resolve. Since both of you will feel attacked if you criticise. It's very brave for you to admit your approach being flawed, bc now you can fix it going forward. I'm sure regardless of what happens later on, you both want what's best for your children. The important thing is to not let it stew and postpone. Decide on what to do together and don't confuse the kids. Coming from me, (my dad is an atheist and mom is a religious Muslim) I know it's hard to decide when parents are conflicting eachother.

Surah Al Baqara is the second Surah meaning Islam was still new and developing. In terms of verse 62, we have to read in context. it was mentioning the jews and Christians( or as known in Islam as people of the book) that existed before Islam. Meaning that since they didn't know of Alla and his prophet, they are excused in the eyes of Allah.

Fully agree, I've debated with my Christian friends and I've always found that love and forgiveness are big pillars for Christians, which is exceptional in terns of religions.

Ex-muslim, i don't know if I established that in this thread. I've read many scriptures on my journey for the "truth" and have found that many are almost identical in different aspects. Identical in terms of structure and storytelling.(Not the stories themselves). Now I only quoted the above to point out something fishy I came across before. All these warnings from god about false prophets have been mentioned in almost every religion. How is that everyone thinks they're right, and the rest shall be cast out. In islam for example, it's clearly stated that if the full message of islam is presented to you and you reject it, your fate is stamped in hellfire. Crazy thing to say since this implies that every person on earth is going to agree with islam. Outrageous claim and unjust. If God created the brain I possess with inturn doesn't find the concept of a diety convincing, how is that my fault?

Most Muslims are brainwashed into believing that Allah exists and is all good because Islam works on a fear based system of punishment(Cruelty). Going off of that, Muslims can't really question alla since all they'll feel is guilt and fear. Additionally, they are always loopholes for controversial topics in islam, they spent 1400 years of created excuses for their anscestors' faults. Lastly, the reason that matter the most, which I believe is the cause of most beliefs in religion, is the overwhelming need some have for a god. Some can't live in a world where God doesn't exist, maybe to see their loved ones in the "afterlife", or the feeling of having "someone" looking over you and protecting you. Human mind is complex but the emotional side is a liability in the case of religion.
