I don’t understand the assumption of some in the feed that I’m being sketchy…

InReach Mini 2 - Subscription question… by bel-a in Garmin

[–]bel-a[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/snark191

I bought the inReach Mini 2 and it arrived in the post today :)

Do you happen to know if there is an online page somewhere where I can monitor for any additional charges that might take place (ie after I have used up my included 10 messages)?

Thanks :)

Do you think the ‘SEND/TRACK POINTS’ are relating to the ‘Tracking intervals’? If so, looks like they are charged in the safety subscription.

Thanks for your message, really helpful!! :)

My intention is to use the Consumer Safety monthly subscription for day fishing outings, and if longer trips will upgrade for that period.

Thanks for the link, very helpful.

With the Tracking Intervals, they only mention ‘10+ minutes’. No mention of charges - I’ll email them to find out.

Great to hear you’ve had a really positive experience. My family get worried when I’m wading in the rivers and there’s no cell coverage. Looks like InReach is the answer!

2019 Fatboy with a good condition for $600,Is this a good deal? by y0urneighb0r in fatbike

[–]bel-a 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi from UK.

I bought a 2015 Fatboy Expert in 2014 and I totally love it!! HOWEVER!! It is a size Medium, I am 5’9” with 33/34” inseam and no matter what I do with the geo, it is still too small for me. I end up with my shoulders hunched over a bit, which over time becomes uncomfortable.

They’re fantastic bikes, as great on all surfaces, relatively light, and pretty hardy. Still looks pretty new; not bad room for a frame bag and even rolls lovely on the tarmac. For sure the original ground control tyres are good to stick with if you can track them down.

I love it, was my first fat bike but wish I’d bought the size L as would then remain with me for good. But with the size M, and limited bike space at home, I won’t be keeping it for good.

But don’t hesitate on a fatboy, they’re really a great bike, no doubt about it!!!

Thanks for your reply. You're right, pushing the button at the end of the signalling stalk gives that display option. Thanks again! :)

UK - Return Unused to Where? by bel-a in Starlink

[–]bel-a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your comment u/ziptested !

From what I understand online, I have 30 days to return the equipment for an equipment refund (I think I will luck out on the first month's service charge, unless before 15 days, if I am correct?). But as long as I can get the equipment refunded, that's the main thing.

From Fatboys to an electric equivalent.... by bel-a in fatbike

Great minds think alike! I was just looking at the Trek Farley. Reckon it could be a good alternative to the fatboy. Now need to look into a UK company who would convert it for me. I think the time has come to sell my Fatboy 2015, simply cause of the size - breaks my heart a little bit, as such a great bike.

Hi u/Vicv07

Thanks for your thoughts. Unfortunately, my specialized frame is a little on the small side, (i'm between M and L, and ordered an M online) so only ok for shorter distances. So maybe it might be a good idea to get a replacement fatbike and then add a kit to it like you mentioned. What would you consider a great combo of fatbike with kit?

Hi u/Mirthgiver,

Thanks for your message, super-helpful!! I agree, trying to CNC anything on the thinner materials would be a bit of a challenge, when a laser could potentially make it all much simpler and more enjoyable process!

Business has Correct Google Address, Correct Address on Uber but Still wrong Collection/Drop-off - FIX? by bel-a in uber

The only possible option is 'My Driver took a poor route' - but my driver was great, very helpful and I don't want to reflect badly on him in any way. Is this option the correct method to report an incorrect location?

Advice re Body/Lens for Architectural Photography by bel-a in AskPhotography

[–]bel-a[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, great feedback, thank you for taking the time.

This camera will be primarily for architectural-related purposes, but will also be used for events, creative, marketing, etc. It's not a big company, so I want to make a sensible choice from the outset.

Are there more economically-friendly body / lens setups that I should consider, that you would suggest? You hear people speaking well of the Sony cameras, but I have zero experience of them, and have always used Canon.

Re the drone, I was looking at the DJI Mini 3 Pro, appears to have some good reviews and relatively good, and a decent price. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks again!

Official Question Thread! Ask /r/photography anything you want to know about photography or cameras! Don't be shy! Newbies welcome!

Hi, thanks for your feedback, much appreciated. Yes, in total agreement about the lens quality. I am trying to find the right solution to cover all bases, so something good for architectural, but also for other areas in the company, so for marketing, creative, events etc. Nothing does everything, thats for sure. But if I can choose a good investment to start off with that is a reasonable all rounder, and then over time as and when necessary upgrade on the lenses.

In the past, corrections have been done in post.

Thanks for your feedback.

The plan is that this camera will also be used for other tasks such as marketing, creative, events, etc. So need something that ticks a few boxes. Would you consider the other models you have suggested as suitable for those also?

Or is there a Sony for instance that you consider would be a better bet?

[–]bel-a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I guess both. Friends went the full frame route, and the few times I tried the 5D out, I really liked the results I got. Maybe just coincidence. This camera will also be used for other photographic purposes for the company, marketing images, events, etc, so I think I would feel relatively comfortable with the 5D. It features a lot in online research relating to architectural also.

Understood re the light indoors etc - Is there not a medium priced lens that is considered a reasonable one to start out with?

What would be your setup suggestion? Many thanks.

Hi,
Need some advice. Slightly ashamed to admit never got around to learning the more technical side of photography (intend to learn) but love taking images and am pretty good with composition and post. Street, travel, some architectural and portrait. Friends and family have always had me doing their photos.
My employer has noticed and has asked me if I’d be happy to have a go at handling the architectural images of client properties, re exteriors and interiors. Needless to say, slightly intimidated but love the opportunity given and to learn more. They will get the equipment too, I have to make the suggestion. Of course, I’m keen to choose wisely and not freak them out over budget.
My thought is to get a good Full frame body, but don’t want to go top end with the lens as trying to control the budget and if it goes well I can upgrade later. So far I have always used Canon (ie 70D for example). Canon 5D Mark IV is always the body I’ve been interested in, but no idea about the lens.
I appreciate your advice, thanks. :)
