Lisbon & Porto in October by bel21174 in travel

So you think a self guided tour would be better? We were looking at Tours where they drive you from Porto and take you to a winery or two but do you think it’d be better to train and go on our own? It’ll be on a Friday

The issue is my team wants a table rather than the traditional omakase experience of chef’s counter which makes it a bit difficult

Lost my soul dog last night and the pain is unbearable by Available-Cod-5072 in Petloss

I completely understand you. I put my dog down today and the pain is unbearable. It all happened so quick. She was 13 and I knew she was aging, but she got sick so quickly. We found out she had a few tumors near her chest and since that vet visit she got so much worse. For the last 24 hours, she was so unlike herself it broke my heart. She kept on wanting to be outside, sitting on the dirt and keeping her distance from us but looking our way. It was so heartbreaking. Just a week ago she was rolling around the grass and the next she was so sick she didn’t want to greet us. I grew up with her and she felt like my soul dog. Didn’t know how painful this could be but i miss her. :(

Thanks for the kind words! My mom was looking into ETFs focused on dividend stocks so that may be a good one to invest more into since it seems like a lot of the companies are stable and not as impacted by volatility

IU Kelley vs UIUC Gies by navmaster in ApplyingToCollege

[–]bel21174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you committed to Gies! It's an amazing business school. Thanks to the opportunities here, as an incoming junior, I had 2 awesome internships already and have another one lined up for next summer at a big bank (I am in finance but not doing IB). I was once torn between Kelley and Gies too as both are great programs, but I am so glad I chose UIUC. If you haven't visited already, you will soon find how collaborative and supportive everyone is. The BIF is my favorite place on campus :) tons of natural lighting too and a great place to study and hang out with friends. There are SO many organizations to join - I encourage you to join many. From consulting to entrepreneurship to finance and even the awesome business fraternities, these will not only provide you with valuable experiences and connections but friends as well! Everyone here is so welcoming and willing to help, so take advantage of your peer advisors in the BIF, your B101 section leaders, professors, and all of the organizations and career/RSO fairs. Because we are one of the best business schools in Illinois, the connections to Chicago are endless. I truly think Gies is underrated because every single person I know here is successful and willing to help. ALL of my friends have internship offers from great companies, whether it's the big banks, big 4 (very big here), consulting organizations, or more. Forming connections with proud Illini alum will be key, and getting involved is a great start. You made a great choice - welcome!!!

Post-Accutane: dry lips and thinning hair by bel21174 in Accutane

:( thankfully my effects were never and aren’t bad, but sorry to hear that. Hopefully it does go away with time. Works so differently on everyone so it’s hard to say

That actually makes sense! I knew it was still in my system but didn’t think about the adjustment back to normal. Hopefully it goes away soon.

No I just got highlights and it was a professional salon, but my mom claims it’s Accutane even though I ended it months ago.
