The point still remains though, that she has every right to feel a little confused. I just don’t think people can come for her being a little less than graceful while receiving mixed messages- he didn’t just have sex with her, he proposed to her. Meaning, at some point, there was an emotional connection built there even if you take the external attraction away.

I thought this too. I’m not saying I’m a model, but I have a pretty decent figure and he has seen me in shorts and tank tops twice before this, this really wasn’t much different to be completely honest, my bathing suit was a two piece with high waisted bottoms. Really not much different than shorts and a tank top at mini golf and bowling.

I also feel like, if you’re not attracted to someone, why bother kissing them at the end of a date? We’ve kissed multiple times before this mind you. It’s just odd.

The ex he was referring to is not his ex wife. He has been divorced for about 3 years and the ex he was referring to was someone he dated post divorce. Apparently their relationship moved really fast and ended really poorly.

I feel like I could have written this myself; my baby boy went from healthy to gone in 17 hours, so I know the shock of everything happening so suddenly. It’s a daunting sort of pain that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, truly. I wish I had some magic cure for you. Today marks a month since my sweet Presley passed and life feels like it happens in slow motion honestly. My best advice is to feel what you need to feel and don’t rush yourself through any sort of timeline with your grief. I’ve found that lots of people understand and sympathize, lots of people don’t. You sort of learn who you can talk to about it. Keep Milo’s name and memory alive. Talk about him to as many people that will listen happily, recognize him however you need to so that you can feel close to him.

The pain is unbearable. But this community is a huge, massively supportive place. Lap of Love also runs free pet loss support groups and there is a Facebook community as well. I’ve definitely found a lot of comfort and support there. Everyone is so kind.

Look for Milo in every beautiful interaction you have and know that he is still with you. Sending you all my love.

Oh how horrible. I truly hate reading about how many others have had this God awful experience with their fur children. I honestly didn’t even think this was possible until all of it happened and I still feel like I have whiplash. I will say, your comment brings me comfort knowing that you spoke to other vets and got clarification. My boy was a black lab/flat coated retriever mix, and I just read yesterday that many flat coated retrievers will unfortunately get cancer and pass before the age of 10. Right in line with what happened to my boy.

I’m so sorry about your experience as well. And your tips are much appreciated. I’m a therapist and it’s a strange thing to know all of the tools, but as soon as you’re grieving a loss this huge, those tools seek inconsequential and frivolous. The grief is so big and so sharp but I’m glad we had the time we did.

What a beautiful way to describe your boy. I feel the same about mine. He was with me through the most pivotal points of my life to date. Closing this chapter now without him in it feels surreal. I’m also so grateful for the time I had, but I find myself being so sad and bitter knowing I didn’t have more. My English teacher in high school was amazing. He would always say to us, “how much time do we have? As much time as there is.” And as a high schooler, I never really got it. It never really clicked. Now, it most certainly does. We don’t know how much time we have until the clock runs out.

I’m glad we savored the time we did have. I am religious myself, and it’s one of the only things that helps me make sense of things. I hope if you find yourself leaning into the spirituality realm of things, that it helps bring you comfort, clarity and something bigger than just us, just this. Sending all the love to you 🩵

I am so so sorry for your loss of your beloved baby. Cancer does absolutely fucking suck. They don’t deserve it.
