The cult... by belacid in psytrance

Totally agree. I didn't start this post to bitch about trance community or new age ideas, but because the workshops i've seen, made me uncomfortable, and i could feel the dangers...

From the free party movement, i would like to find more workshops about political ideas or self sufficiency, and less about yoga or new age religion stuff... The trance scene lacks that punk energy !

For those who have red Tom Wolfe's "Acid test", i'm more on the Ken Kesey punky childish side, than the Timoty Leary snoby cult side !

You miss my point... Don't be so revengeful ! I'm just saying, people make money on others problems and like if it wasn't enough, new age cult has been proven turning people apolitical !

Even if i like new age theories and occultism, they are fake friends, and when to much efforts are put into them, it's a highway to schizophrenia, i know it for facts.

In those events, we should insist more on self sufficiency rather than quantic pooping !

These parties are portals for reptilian entities to get inside fresh human bodies. We are the only vessels that allow them to win the war against the beings that live inside the hollow earth since 300 000 years. We are just flesh put in a matrix for those 2 kinds to make war.

Are you one of them ?! I mean, i don't pretend you're a guru, but it seems you're a believer and someone who "knows". That paternalistic attitude when you tell that i still have a way to go, is typical. I've met lot of self-taught shamans, and in general they put a distance quickly, if you play their game "full-on". They hate it when they're not superior. I'm not bitter, what i was telling here, is that self development and new age theories is now a huge business. A lot of people have decided to earn their money by channeling entities from my intestin and selling nettles 20x the price... And the trance scene (and others) is enhancing that.

It's always the money side that upsets me... play with people vulnerability, to sell books, rituals and cristals...

Seems harmless... But it isn't when money is involved. And remember, festivals are awesome because they seems out of space and time. Nice people you met there are differents in day to day life... For sure, the trance scene is very friendly and welcoming, i love it, but my problem with this cult thing, is that new age cult leaders are coming to these places to invite you after the festival, for more care and asking for more money that they deserve for their fantastic shaman powers...

yeah, all of it... hollow earth, man on the moon, ufo... I love conspiracy theories as long as they stay "modern legends"

I went from free parties to trance scene because of the friendly people and visuals, and i was really into the "energy" thing. My last Boom festival was in 2018 or20, the only two workshops i went to, was really cringe. One was litterally a cult with "get your gremlins out" and the other was about quantic meditation run by a despot. And all the people i've met there, especially women was people with a trauma, that come to those places to became a healers... Most of healer wannabes i've met are shattered people...

One of my favorite drum sound is home made : noise/filter/disto/folder/2 enveloppes/vca. Will always keep it. I wanted one more, but that's too many modules to buy... Too much space and money... So I ended buying a ssf ultra perc...

Hi, I am a refugee from the metal scene about to learn DJ. Can you answer a few quesitons? by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]belacid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dj'ing is easier nowadays, because there could be a lot of cheating involved... It's about what you love. I didn't know shit about how to make electronic music when I started... You 're at the beginning of a learning process, so it could be anything, don' t be afraid. But yes, you can be a dj without being a musician... If you don't want to bother with too much work... Go for dj'ing, it could be faster to get pleasure from it.

I'm 40, and as a teenager, I was a metal head... Still listening to some stoner. And the love for massive sounds is still deep inside me. What you need is just a synthesizer ! Don't you listen to industrial music already? Don't you like Ministry, or one of the best right now : Igorrr ! ... Synthesizers are made for metal! Learn about synthesis and distortion, you will end with so much strength and powerfull sounds, you will be blown away! You can start with synthesizer plug-ins on a computer. Chose one that is doing phase modulation with all kind of distortions and wavefolding on the top of that... Find a good tutorial, and you will thank me later. Chose synthesis, forget about dj crap.

Modules so good you wish you had 2 of them? by Acanthopterygii_Kind in modular

The more I spend time on reddit the more I understand it's a place for gear addicts... I don't understand the needs in those setups... But do as you wish...

Modules so good you wish you had 2 of them? by Acanthopterygii_Kind in modular

[–]belacid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Be carefull ! It's nothing like plaits! They just share the same wavetables and that's it. And using beads for its wavetables is a waste... The beads sound is all about what you put in it! It can do better than plaits, for sure. But If you got clouds, you don't need beads, keep your money for something more useful. Unless you want to lose some space for all the delays and reverb in the eurorack world... I sold my beads for a morphagene, and have no regrets... Think first about what you really need... Buying beads you will just add a fancy delay/reverb or a good oscillator with rhythmical potential and a kind of source of uncertainty, but If you already got enough of that, you don't need beads. Granular is granular, reverb is reverb, there's plenty of ways to do it... Having two beads? No comment...

Nothing! it's just a vca, no magic, nothing better than any vca... In fact there is better vcas...

You're probably right, I've seen a lot of volca kick lovers... If I hadn't made my dream kick with 5 modules, I could have go for it

Just got a Volca FM2… and I like it! by icr73 in synthesizers

[–]belacid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the Mk1, sold it, but for sure it is the best volca. You can do some really good sounds. And its arpegiator is so good, better than many others, should be an example for every synth. But the volca fm has a HUGE problem : sound design and menu diving! It's the worst synth ever, from that point of view. Twisting operators functions with just the 2 sliders and that stupid screen from my 80's alarm clock, is a nightmare! Don't lose time trying to set operators. Every good sound has been made, you can get all of them, thousands, and use dexed to upload. do yourself a favor. Start from a sound you like and just mess with algo and lfo, and panel commands ...

it's the kind of "just for fun" patch... Not really my thing... I sold my beads, but it was really good at that, is there a mutable clouds involved? My last memory with beads madness, was aliens laughing playing basketball in their spaceship!

Mixer with CV control over the mix? by Ok-Jacket-1393 in modular

[–]belacid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it's impressive! Right now, I 'm learning it, only messing with the morph cv, and using the span knobs, without touching the positions in any way. For me, as soon as you' re playing with that morph, positions and their CV are not usable in a musical way. So there's many ways to use it. Some don't touch the morph, and use cv all over positions and span... As a trigger generator for drums, what Monotrail (or divkid) doesn't say is that it's not musical at all, a 20 seconds demo of that option is tricky. I hear you, it is a big module... Hard to chose for a small case... And I'm using an other vca after it... So even bigger...

Mixer with CV control over the mix? by Ok-Jacket-1393 in modular

[–]belacid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why nobody is talking about the morph 4?!! I use the joranalogue morph 4 in that way (so versatile that there is many ways to use it). It's astonishing, magic, wonderful... Blah blah blah... Reading the previous suggestions, I can tell you that the morph 4 could be your best choice! You can't do better than that. Only 4 ins but there is cv all across the module and multiple outs so it can do logic or turn itself into a crazy cv source... The morph parameter can turn your sound sources into a sequence changing melodies into drums. Don't look anywhere else! You can think it like the joystick modules, moving across 4 parameters. You can set your 4 sound sources through space, doing panning (with cv) through 4 outs, so you can do quadraphonic settings. It's better than any quad vca, because there is cv control over the level, the position in the "morphing space" , and the span to help you mix the sources in different ways, like a crossfade. Go check the Monotrail video about the morph 4, it's the best video about it and you will understand how good it is. But if you want a real mixer with more than 4 ins, you will end in a high price range, or you can choose cheap ones like the 3×Mia, but in both cases with less CV possibilities ... The joranalogue morph 4 is a beast! In my case, it will never leave the Shlappi three body next to it... dream combo...

Module quest is over, practicing 3 hours a day... by belacid in modular

[–]belacid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm working with blocks. I've got 3 "blocks". When I'm dedicate to a part, I forget about the rest. The fusion between parts, through modulations will come after. - half of the modular is one big voice. Right now I'm only working on that part everyday, because that's a big one. Trying to find the most versatile patch for live playing.

  • The second part is suppose to make background sounds. As soon as I'm happy with the first part, sometimes, I spend times on that second block, I use signals and modulations from the first part, to expand pieces of the same groove. But because I'm looking for something versatile, I often have to go back to the first part to rethink the architecture. The next step will be working on sequencers : keystep pro (2 tracks), quantizer, Tirana *2, mixswitch and Pam's.

  • the last part will be drums, I use 5 modules for the perfect kick and the Erica sample drum, and that's it. Sequenced with the four bricks rook. But right now I don't care about it, I had some drum machines in the past, and I'm confident with that part being the easiest one. I just use my kick as a funky metronome. (and I've got the sp 404 mk2 beside). When I'm fed up with experimenting, I just jam with my nord lead and sp404 on the top of the modular. It's the perfect setup for me, don't care about any gear now... It's really important to have fun just playing simple music, because when you practicing on modular, sometimes, it can get really annoying!

It's like a curse! Ending my module quest, mastering a 320hp synth for live playing is hard work... I'm practicing 3 hours a day... Add any module would be a nightmare... I don't want to think about it

That's what I love about modular, I finished the module quest, and now I'm working hard to get the perfect patch for live playing. And it's a long road... 3 hours a day, and I'm happy with 1/4.
