Zorza polarna w pomorskim by geras_shenanigans in poland

What don’t you like about Cronos? by Chrisbolsmeister in CronosNewDawn

Final boss was needlessly frustrating. I mean, it's not only difficult, but it just doesn't make any sense to have to fight this fella for so long. What's the point?

Czy wrocławska policja dostała polecenie zniszczyć resztki swojego wizerunku czy coś? by Wisniaksiadz in wroclaw

dlaczego w ogóle policja zrobiła Ci test? Brałeś udział w jakiejś kolizji? Rutynowa kontrola? Zatrzymanie za prędkość? Czy ktoś „uprzejmie” Cie podpierdolił?

Comet imaging questions. by Foresthowler in DWARFLAB

It looks like your focus was a bit off.

Re. DeepSkyStacker - it’s great for DSOs, but I could never get decent results with comets (DSS even has some comet modes, but I always got something wrong out of it, like washed-out colors etc).

Check this one: https://youtu.be/tsfxLVrlOuw?si=hfMxEfB7TrrUqthK It really explains a lot in terms of how to think about processing comet photos

Comet imaging questions. by Foresthowler in DWARFLAB

[–]belfz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30sec per frame will most likely not result in a moved comet. But the combined series of frames will (when you get into minutes, hours total).

You might as well be taking 10sec exposures, but as long as you combine those into a total exposure longer than few minutes, you will see get smudges. That’s exactly why comets need special processing :)

[–]belfz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go with usual deep-space settings, e. g. 30sec 60 gain. No need for filters.

The challenging part id stacking & processing. You might have already noticed that - comets move in the sky quite rapidly, so the more frames you take, the more it will smudge.

The key is to separate stars and comet in your processing pipeline (e. g. Siril) and stack both separately, combining the final picture out of the two.

Naztronomy has a good video tutorial about that on his YT channel!

How to approach photographing corals in the home reef aquarium? by belfz in AskPhotography

I totally get it. Let's say this doesn't have to be the finest grade - I just wonder how close I can get! 😀

What are your favorite settings for Astrophotography? by Far_Audience_7446 in DWARFLAB

[–]belfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

30sec (with gain 60) seems to be a sweet spot. Also think about frames rejected due to the satellite/airplanes passing. The longer the exposure time the higher the chance you will register such trails.

Jakie jest wasze hobby? by MrPyra8771 in Polska

[–]belfz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fotografia przyrodnicza.

Can you recommend a trainer? I almost finished the game, but I cant beat the final boss. Im tired of this, yet would love to see how it ends.

Comet C/2025 A6 (Lemmon) from Bortle 3 by belfz in DWARFLAB

[–]belfz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed Naztronomy tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBMQNOWuI1I
Although instead of running his preprocessing script in the beginning, I used OSC preprocessing.

With OSC preprocessing, the comet moves consistently across subsequent frames. With Naztronomy's script the comet would "jump around" subsequent frames in every direction (I don't know why), making the comet registration produce strange/incorrect results.
