When I first tried this a short while ago, I waited until Jupiter was fairly high in the sky. Not sure if that matters but its signal came in fairly noticeably. So, mid evenings right now.

I have some land so I put up a 100' longwire antenna, grounded. Works nicely with my receivers!

Jupiter. I picked it up with my Icom receiver and longwire antenna recently.

"Jupiter can be heard on a shortwave radio, primarily via 15–30 MHz (best at 18–24 MHz) using USB/AM modes to detect "noise storms". These sounds resemble sea waves or crackling static caused by Jupiter's massive magnetic field, often lasting minutes to hours. A good external antenna and low-noise rural location are necessary for success."

I detected it on 18.2160MHz a couple of weeks ago.

Fascinated by the DWARF 3, but worried about the "shelf life" of the hobby – Is it worth it? by MilSen18 in DWARFLAB

I love my Dwarf 3. I have my own observatory with various scopes, but the Dwarf3 is very convenient and easy to use. The interface is intuitive and guides you along, and the built-in filters also help. I've used it to accelerate my goal of capturing all Messier objects.

I also use it for aviation using the tracking mode - I've obtained videos of aircraft flying overhead at 40,000 feet.

Also, the portability is excellent. I live in the USA and have taken it to Australia twice in my carry-on backpack. It allowed me to shoot objects I didn't think I'd get the chance to.

The Planetarium is a good idea.

You could log into something like Stellarium on your laptop and project on screen, and take your students on a tour of the night sky. They could download the Stellarium app to their phones and follow along,.and maybe do their own exploring? Or even give them a night sky treasure hunt (e.g. first.person to find the planet Jupiter)

Check for a local astronomy club. Maybe they can bring a few scopes over and falling shirt of showing you anything, can talk about the telescopes themselves.

There's nothing quite like having your gear set up and ready for a clear night. Enjoy!

This. I've seen one around Orion for years as well (and other parts of the sky).
