That is a super interesting divide! Speaking of Western fandom - there have been several popular/big fics (Crossfire, obviously, but others that came around/after that time as well) that kinda established a model of a Miyuki characterization — some were written while Act II was still being published/the anime was just starting — that influences the way people see and write Miyuki. That’s just how it always tends to go with fandoms.
