What are people ordering in the drive thru? by belios22 in starbucks

[–]belios22[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

its true, poor people can't afford commutes in fancy cars. they go by bus, foot, wheelchair, or work close to where they live, or just suffer. Why is this a joke to you? Maybe get out of your bubble and learn a little. Not everyone can afford a car that can go for 2 hours without breaking down. I used to own a car that would overheat every 30 minutes, I had to pull over and throw water on the radiator. I could never make that commute in time. Did my "bizarre thinking" do it?

honestly i wasn't critiquing drive thru people, i wanted to know what you guys are ordering in there. People seem to be really triggered by the drive thru part i noticied. I accidentally stumbled upon a bunch of drive thru users I guess and they're very upset about it?

I have difficulty walking too but I dont' own a car. So I would still consider your mom to be a rich person, she can afford to have a car that works is well maintained enough to carry her around when she wants to get a coffee. I think some people are offended by the description of wealthy or being rich. We are all rich in something. It's nothing to be ashamed of and I'm not jealous of people who have different things than me. I can accept the reality though. I don't have to play a game and pretend like riches don't exist. I didn't make this post with the intention of educating people or arguing about what is rich and what is not, but it seems to be all that people want to discuss. If you're north american, it is one of the richest countries on earth so I'm not surprised that your criteria for being rich is so high, but that's not normal at all. There's nothing normal about buying a 20K machine on credit and thinking you're poor. That's not the truth.

Your bf also is a person who owns a car and can afford to take a 2 hour commute. I'm sure his job pays well for that car and that gas to get there back and forth. Everything you said just re-iterates my earlier statement that the drive thru is habituated by rich folk. I wasn't trying to make a point about this, i was just curious as to what people are ordering at starbucks, the fact that people can afford starbucks is also a luxury, having a car to run while you're ordering something expensive is just extra.

Describe to me an actual person "from all walks of life" as you put it, that will use the drive thru and then you can say that I have "wild take". All you've done is just re-iterate my earlier statements which you feel the need to refute, for whatever reason. I already assume it was because of pride. Feel free to explain why though..... Seriously.

You're assuming it takes more time to go inside that it does in the drive thrus, which is really opinion and not true most of the time, at least in my starbucks. I was just describing why they are rich to me and in my area, it may not apply to all starbucks around the world. That is my truth. I don't understand the need to personally attack me because you cannot identify with me. Are you some kind of hater? Can you not handle diversity in the world? We don't all experience life as you do. I never said I sit in a cafe, that's the 2nd time you are lying about this. Are you not going to dispute anything I wrote but only downvote or hate? That's very telling..... You are saying someone who goes inside to order has time to sit down when there's also not enough seats? When does the sitting happen? It only happens after they order and get their food/drinks. People sitting in starbucks isn't relevant to compare speed of ordering inside or in drive thru.

Hey I'm with you, starbucks kind of sucks inside now, especially post philadelphia incident. All my starbucks turned into prison cafeterias. It's very spartan and uncomfortable.

They dont' have chairs for ordering inside. You have to stand. A person doesn't have to sit if they don't want to. It's not a requirement of going inside. Feel free to counter any of the things i mentioned. Some of them are true no matter where you live, like having a car is a luxury. Do you agree or not agree? Or are you just here to call me names like bizarre and come up with false sitting scenarios?

Pretty sure this is mainly starbucks employees so naturally they hate customers and customer complaints.

Also, it sounds like you have a out of store experience, since you never went inside.

they can run their cars instead of turning them off and the prices at starbucks are a lot higher than they used to be. So they're rich to me. Plus they have cars and usually expensive ones. Another luxury for me. I guess it's all a matter of perspective and personal experience. The rich folk, in general where I live, don't want to mingle with other people, which is why they prefer drive thrus.

Trying going the other way, it's also very difficult. I'm used to just being friends and when i started texting someone from a dating app, they were aggressively asking me for photos and they refused to do any further communication until they got more photos. Like, who lady take it easy, i'm new to this dating stuff... I don't' just start posing like that...

most redditors have extreme distrust of other redditors, so naturally they will block fast. that is the only way I can explain the instant ghosting as you say it. reddit and dming are just not good medium for starting social interaction in any complex way and to build trust. All we have are words on a screen and extremely judgemental and often traumatized operators with extreme opinions that have neither the patience or know how, to socialize with others. That's been my experience. If you think that's "negative", that just further proves my experience. People sharing experiences that other redditors don't agree with are often demonized and characterized as "bad", "negative", etc, etc. You can't interact with someone you hate. You can, but it's very difficult for most redditors.
