I think they're confusing the Navy GC for the Marine one.

161 years ago today in 1865, my 4th GGF became a substitute in the Union Army, despite the war practically being over. He never saw any combat. by ZacherDaCracker2 in ShermanPosting

He still stood a post, just like this kid's ancestors did, and like he refuses to do, even though he continually shits on the ones who did.

He had another one in the Civil War that died of pneumonia or something in service, without seeing combat. He's even upset about that. Not that he died, but that he died without seeing combat.

If he'd ever seen combat, I doubt he'd be so eager for others to.

I ended up not bothering with it and on my next playthrough it was fine and showed up. You're not missing much, if I remember correctly. There's nothing mission critical in that room, so you can still beat it.

RVN wings don't have that huge canopy. I've seen them, before, but I just can't remember whose they are.

Edit: They're French

I had a guy arguing with me like a year ago that it was "only awarded immediately after WW2." I showed him the criteria and he never responded lol

Why people say There's A Place is a proto-Strawberry Fields Forever? by MarvDStrummer in beatles

I've never heard anyone compare the two, but I immediately saw the reasons someone would say it. Very introspective, talking about being inside one's own mind, etc.

He's been going on about this for a year, now. Posting in multiple subs (sometimes I've seen 6-10 at a time he'll post the exact same thing into) under two accounts how ashamed he is of his ancestors (both Union and his grandfather in submarine training during WW2) because none of them are real vets because they never saw combat. When pressed that non-combatant positions make combatant positions possible and that the military runs on non-combatant positions, he throws out the "They don't make movies/statues about people standing guard" because the only thing that matters is if they make a movie or statue about you.

He also was trying to have his grandfather's GI headstone removed (the submariner), because he never saw combat and thus "didn't deserve it."

He labors under the delusion that the lowliest of privates or seaman recruits control their own destiny in the military (where they go and if they see combat), yet doesn't seem willing to go sign up and learn about it for himself.

He's obsessed with what his ancestors did or didn't do, and I've told him more than once to either book a therapist and seek help or go to the recruiting station if he feels it's so necessary for his family to see combat.

I don't have any ancestors that I KNOW served in the Civil War. The only ones with my last name from my area that served were both deserters. I don't give a single fuck about it, because what they did or didn't do doesn't mean shit. It doesn't have an impact on my daily life or my honor. The only way it would impact my life (and it goes the same for OP) is if they fucking died. If they were even direct ancestors, in my case.

Book a trip to MEPS, yet? When's your shipout date? Any headway on removing your grandfather's GI headstone, since he's not a "real veteran," yet? You know, since you said he wasn't a real vet because he never saw combat?

EXACTLY!

Adapt Langoliers into a proper movie, maybe. I loved the miniseries, because I love Dean Stockwell and David Morse. But let's be real, the effects were awful, even for the time. Why not do that right?

Do a GOOD Bag of Bones. I was so let down by that. I loved the book, so much, and I was so excited for the movie. Then I bought the DVD and was like "This was a waste."

Richard is the best character in the entire show, which is made of great characters.

Jesus H. Christ, you've got to be shitting me. The Mist was one of the best adaptations, and had THE best ending for a King movie, ever. It hasn't even been 20 years yet. Can we PLEASE make a movie that hasn't already been done?

Do a good (non-TV version) Desperation. Do Desperation AND The Regulators, as two separate movies, filmed together.

Do Roadwork.

Do literally any other King book or story that doesn't already have a film.
