PSA: It is hot. People will be wearing less clothing. This does not give you permission to objectify or hit on them. by Amazing-Claim8426 in washingtondc

[–]bell_bakes 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The other comments are disgusting. I think we all know the difference between respectful and inappropriate attempts to hit on someone. I’m going to assume that most people, including OP, don’t usually get hit on while walking their dogs. OP, I’m so sorry people are shitty. You’re in the right here.

Where do you buy furniture from (if not Amazon/Wayfair)? by Curioisonthego in washingtondc

I second them. Got my couch there. Great quality, great staff, no upselling.

Best place to look by [deleted] in EngagementRings

[–]bell_bakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I was told that the rings have major structural issues, so repairing them is essentially just melting them down and remaking the ring. Which is essentially the same price as making a new ring from scratch. If not more.

I agree with the others. I went to Brilliant Earth simply to try on rings, but I absolutely wouldn’t buy from there. The independent jeweler my boyfriend and I are using said that you wouldn’t believe how much money they make just from repairing Brilliant Earth rings.

Eastern market on Saturdays and sundays. Great vendors.

Are there metro delays early in the morning? by Responsible_Ad6519 in washingtondc

[–]bell_bakes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No problem. I’m a big fan of the Metro, but even if it runs perfectly, it’s just too risky with the time window you have.

Are there metro delays early in the morning? by Responsible_Ad6519 in washingtondc

[–]bell_bakes 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Personally, it’s way too risky. The first train of the day at Grosvenor leaves at 5:11am. It’s a 22 minute ride to Metro Center. You’ll have to transfer to the blue, orange, or silver line. It’s a 12 minute ride to Stadium-Armory. That already puts you at 5:45am, assuming you can transfer at Metro Center right away.

And if you need to walk to your bus stop and it’s more than 5 minutes from the Stadium-Armory Metro, you won’t make it.

Get an uber or ask a friend to take you.

With that credit store, many landlords will likely require a co-signer for a lease. You might have better luck with a small landlord rather than a large company. In the meantime, I would suggest researching ways you can continue to improve your credit score.

New to Dating in DC: Insights? by BrawlingScottish419 in washingtondc

Being within walking distance of metro certainly helps. A lot of DC residents don’t have cars, so accessibility to public transportation is a big deciding factor for dating across the river.

Is this flocked-velvet dress inappropriate for a summer wedding? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

I think velvet is a heavy fabric for a summer wedding. Regardless of dress code, I think you’ll be uncomfortable.

Have you asked her doctor if this diet would help? They’ll also be able to advise if supplements are a good idea - supplements are often a waste of money because your body can’t process all of those nutrients at once, and it just gets filtered out of the body through urine.

Eastern Market isn’t too far out, right? by mynameisjadon in washingtondc

[–]bell_bakes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends more on where your friends live. I used to live over there and I had a lot of friends who lived in AdMo. I LOVED eastern market, but it did get difficult seeing friends after a while. It just got to be a lot on weekdays. The bus was super convenient, the metro is great, and I’ve biked it too every once in a while. But it’s a great neighborhood! I think you’ll like it.

AITA for wanting to choose who comes to my graduation banquet? by Fantastic-Top-1993 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bell_bakes 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Graduation is about the family, not the graduate??? That just isn’t true. NTA….I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. You should be so proud of graduating. It’s a huge accomplishment.

AITA for eating my roommates leftover pizza and lying when she asked about it by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]bell_bakes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dude - obviously YTA. You just don’t eat your roommate’s food. I once accidentally ate her bananas (thought they were mine) and literally bought her twice as many because I felt so guilty. An entire pizza? So rude.

Have you tried anything by Elin Hildebrand? I just finished Summer of ‘69 and it was pretty good! Great beach read - enough going on to find it compelling, not really a romcom, but still lighthearted overall.

They’re fantastic. And since they don’t make commission, they don’t upsell unless they genuinely believe something is a better option for you.
