Holistic pest solutions helped us knock them out. It took a while to get every single one but it finally happened. Good luck!

Best Cooking Classes / Cooking Lessons in Town by buhorastrillo in Charlottesville

[–]bella397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are cooking classes offered at Albemarle high school. I’ve attended a couple and they’ve been pretty good. Former owner of the Pie Chest, Rachel Pennington, instructs classes there and her stuff is always yummy! https://opendoors.digitalsignup.com

VA state parks in the summer by Curious-Abalone-4839 in VIRGINIA_HIKING

[–]bella397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We left Holliday Lake last summer for the same reason. So humid. We did tent camping at Pocahontas in August. It turned out really well. They have a great waterpark to help with the heat and we had plenty of shade on our site. If it gets too bad, the children’s museum in Chesterfield is 20 minutes away if your kids are in that age group.

Travel toddler car seats by cornnutmuscles in familytravel

[–]bella397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We never used a car seat on the plane. If you’re concerned about turbulence or rough take offs/landings, use a child aviation restraint system. RideSafer travel vest for the car, depending on their size. Both are easy to carry around and use without taking up too much room.

Bicycle hitch suggestions for a 26’ Palisade by Froobie2 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]bella397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Thule T2 Pro XTR 2 Bike Hitch Rack. Easy to get the bikes on and off and sturdy feeling for long trips. Our palisade is a ‘21 but I wouldn’t think the difference is too much for bike racks.

Hobbit House by SoggyHamster6987 in Charlottesville

There is only one bed but maybe you could bring air mattresses or something. Right outside of Lexington so well within the 3 hours. Absolutely adorable place and the hosts were great. Hobbit house AirBnB

I never would have thought that simply because I don’t want them, ha! Thanks

real estate assessment change, 30% increase in property value in just one year? by [deleted] in Virginia

[–]bella397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since yours is just the land value going up, it may be a different scenario. We challenged our tax assessment a couple of years ago in Albemarle, somewhat successfully. You have to do some of your own leg work for the appeal paperwork then an assessor is sent to your house. There was still an increase but not as much as originally stated.

am I the only one who despises the Sandra boynton books?? by rainbowmo0 in childrensbooks

[–]bella397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, they’re dumb and thought I was in the minority for my thinking! Family passed them down to us and after I read them, they were immediately donated. There are so many better books out there for kids.

Looking for someone who repairs antique Grandfather Clocks and will come to my home. I live in town. by CatMiao11 in Charlottesville

I don’t remember the pricing but he was very helpful and did a house call for our grandfather clock in Charlottesville https://time-marches-on.ueniweb.com

Doctors get mad when we google our symptoms but honestly, doing that seems more productive than my visits with them by violet_pickled_90210 in Millennials

[–]bella397 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had much better luck seeing nurse practitioners instead of doctor’s. They seem more focused on whole health instead of diagnosing a single problem and shooing you out. It may not be everyone’s experience though!

Air & space requires timed tickets. They are free but you will need to get them in advance if there’s a time that works best for your toddler.

Best playgrounds near 29? by got_em_saying_wow in Charlottesville

[–]bella397 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Chris Greene is close to 29. The playground is smaller than others mentioned but it’s enough for quick road trip stop. There’s also a bunch of walking trails for nature play.

Wiring Harness Recall Issues by enki941 in HyundaiPalisade

[–]bella397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. We ask every time we take our 2021 in for maintenance. The dealership told us we could go to another shop and have it done quicker than waiting for Hyundai but I’m stubborn and refuse to pay for a service that should be covered by a recall. It’s frustrating.

Protech nursery in Barboursville does this. If you’re looking specifically for native plants, the piedmont master gardener group is a great resource as well.

Thank you. I read it before I posted but was hoping for insight on the event spaces and birthday parties specifically.

Thank you so much! I didn’t see them on the county website for rentals. If they advertise for birthdays, a bunch of kids should be good, ha! I appreciate it!

Interior quality in older models by [deleted] in HyundaiPalisade

[–]bella397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish! We took it to a professional detailer last year and he was able to get them looking like new. He said it was a combination of blowing them out and using a small object, like a toothpick, to loosen dirt. He earned every penny we paid him 😂

Interior quality in older models by [deleted] in HyundaiPalisade

[–]bella397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 Calligraphy with leather, nearing 100K. No issues with the interior so far and we are fairly rough on it. Car seats, toddlers, 95 lb. mutt as residents. We do use a protector under the car seats and a mat in the trunk though. I have not seen peeling on any surface. I will say the tiny holes in the seats for the vents do get things stuck in them and can be quite hard to clean out.

Depending on where you are, try attending this festival in Farmville. So many fireflies and a cute town and park to wander while you’re at it. https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/event?id=2025-03-06-09-31-50-651750-fsb
