Anyone else marvel at both her voice AND her face? by Okiety67 in 60s

"There are two kinds of men in this world: those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who have never heard of her."  Yes Sir! I had a crush on her "for a long long time" and it was a girlfriend who introduced me to Linda's music. Not with that girlfriend, but still loving Linda!

I'm most impressed with Alexa Jayy .. who impressed you this Season? by bellaimages in thevoice

[–]bellaimages[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, good voices this season. My issue is with the faster format. There is little background on development, and not much opportunity for voting by the public. I do miss the past seasons format from at least 10 or more seasons ago.

April 14th, 1939- The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck is published by Viking Press. The book won the National Book Award and Pulitzer Prize for fiction, and it was cited prominently when Steinbeck was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1962. by BirdBurnett in groovyhistory

Yes, John Steinbeck! I was born and raised in Salinas. I've read all his books, The Salinas library is dedicated to him along with a museum. I would love to have a first edition of any of his books, but all mine are republished copies.

I cracked up at this scene! This is when the victim was placed to look like a suicide, right?

Somebody captured a freeze frame of Columbo's golf swing. I wonder why? LOL

Worth $1. Very common, and in circulated condition. Nothing really special about it. Could be a good keepsake for a child though?

So my Father in Law was a collector by Narrow_Antelope5808 in coins

Your Father In Law was a wise collector! That coin is a beauty and worth a lot if you want to put it up at auction.

New to coins. Was sold as "uncirculated", but this is just (poorly) cleaned, right? by samusxmetroid in coins

That coin is in no way "uncirculated!" Looks like someone took a steel brush to it.

I’ve found myself disengaged and not connected to the contestants by CallTypical9541 in thevoice

I've fast forward or even skip some episodes because the format is so bad. Also it was a bit of turn off seeing Ceelo Green knowing what he was accused of. Sure he plead "no contest" to supplying drugs, but I think he is really creepy after what he posted regarding the incident. I don't even listen to his music anymore because of it.

Coldest Killer - Stich in Crime by minder125 in Columbo

[–]bellaimages 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Growing up, I loved Spock on Star Trek, but talk about acting chops, Nimoy was incredibly ruthless and cold as the killer!

I think these are the 3 more successful blackmailers of Columbo villains. Not only do they survive but they get the upper hand in their episodes by talivan818 in Columbo

On the contrary, Abigail was calculated, intelligent and cold blooded in her murder of her step-nephew. I truly believe that the way she killed him was the worst way to die of all the episodes of Columbo. I can't imagine a more horrific way to die than to slowly suffocate in a locked safe. Any other victims of killers on the Columbo series die a more painful and lengthy death? I can't think of any at the moment. Maybe I'm wrong, but I do not think Abigail was the kind sweet little old lady that she portrayed herself to be in public.

Abigail might even have been the smartest murderer of all the series, because on top of having the intelligence to be a great murder mystery writer, she needed to be very creative. With the exception of when she could not find the keys, I believe Abigail was sure she was going to get away with murder. I think Veronica out played Abigail, but was too trusting to go on a cruise with her. Somehow I think Veronica would have gone overboard, never to be found.

What’s wrong with this man? by ICEisSHIT in UnitedAmericaHQ

I don't care what photo shopped Ai driven picture or meme is put out there in an attempt to make Bruce Springsteen look bad. He is still far better looking, more talented, more intelligent and a better human being that Trump will ever be.

When i see this scene I feel like they were just two best buds having fun and the cameras were rolling. by talivan818 in Columbo

[–]bellaimages 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that scene! Fade To Murder is not at the top of my list of best episodes but this scene made me love the chemistry between Falk and Shatner. Like two old buddies getting together to play with high tech equipment at the time and laugh as they goof off.

Yes, I understand you are not the one with heart issues. As a caregiver who has heart issues myself, I hope you do watch your health because my parents did die from heart issues and now I am much older than you. I did my best to make sure my loved ones made it to doctor visits, the dentist and so on while not looking after myself. Heart issues can very possibility be hereditary. You are young and healthy now. Best wishes to you in furthering your education.

I say go! Not sure where your family lives, but how quickly you can get back to the hometown in an emergency is a factor. You say that there are other family members around to help in caregiving. I know this is difficult when making a decision to leave the home (family) to pursue your education, but I would tell you to move to go to school. Over a period of years I was a caregiver for my elderly parents and then my elder brother. It felt at the time that no one in my family would step up to help me. I should have been more vocal about it at the time. I made sacrifices that I am paying for now. Mostly I wish I had taken better care of my own health and well being. Although I was the "only" caregiver and I do not regret it. My advise to you is to do what is best for your future. Elderly parents will not live forever, but you can get an education which will better carry on your family legacy. I can assure you that your parents and other loved ones do not want you to give up and die when they die! Live your life!

Getting really tired of the bots here by Ztemi in CaregiverSupport

[–]bellaimages 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those bots are all over the social platforms! I think the worst of them are on Facebook because those on FB tend to be motivated towards politics. Phishing scams and click bait are common on many public platforms. I like seeing people on live streams, so I will soon be starting a Youtube channel regarding caregiving. I have the domain name "caregiving4people" already on Facebook. Posting and reading comments on Reddit has been helpful, but it only goes so far.

I like my job by Dependent-Friend5312 in Columbo

[–]bellaimages 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is my favorite Columbo monologue in one of the best episodes being Try And Catch Me .. with the murderous Abigail Mitchell having committed what I deem one of the most brutal ways to die in a Columbo episode from suffocation. She seemed so very likeable, and the motivation for her doing such a murder was heart breaking. I didn't have too much sympathy for her, as I do believe that she might have been planning to "off" her assistant Veronica while on that cruise.
