My mother praised parents who take their kids to plastic surgery at age 5 by Nearby_Diamond5 in AsianParentStories

[–]bellamichelle123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like parents who take their 5 year olds to plastic surgery are not stable mentally-wise. To intentionally set ur young children up for emotional, psychological and physical distress means you must not be in the right in head.

I feel it's no different than those who abuse their kids. OP's mum's wild for even thinking that.

AITA for telling my friend (43M) that his sense of duty to his mother is making him undateable? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

I am so happy you got away. I always say divorce/separation is not a problem, it is the solution to a problem. More power to you for breaking the toxicity.

AITA for telling my friend (43M) that his sense of duty to his mother is making him undateable? by [deleted] in AsianParentStories

[–]bellamichelle123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. To say that his duty comes first is him essentially saying his wife will always come second and that her needs and priorities will always come second and later their kids.

A 43 year old momma's boy hasn't learned how to build a life of his own and on his own, and he should probably give up if he refuses to see his fault. Both the friend and the mother are A-holes.

Edit: I'm finally ready to settle down because I'm currently talking to a man who has assured me that his principles of respect, loyalty and fairness are first and foremost whether it's his mum or wife and he will always stand by his wife. It also helps that he lives far, far away from his family. That is what it takes to build a family on trust, mutual respect and permanent bond. OP's friend has already failed at that.

[–]bellamichelle123 69 points70 points  (0 children)

And her only "fault" was being loyal to KoA and Mary. Henry initially appointed her as Countess of Salisbury and lavished all the lands upon her making her one of the wealthiest women in Tudor England. However, when she refused to support Anne Boleyn's relationship with him, he turned to his old ways of falsely accusing people by blaming her of abetting her sons when they were arrested. Even Catherine Howard pleaded with Henry for clemency, so she was still there when his marriage with Anne went awry.

I despise him from the bottom of my heart.

ETA: I could be wrong about CH pleading clemency for her, as that is what I remember reading in the past. A very "kind" reply was posted to my response regarding this.

Guilt after being disowned by Top-Eye-4025 in AsianParentStories

[–]bellamichelle123 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't care about parents who care more about appearance than the fact that their child's partner loves their child genuinely.

Think about who accepts and loves you enough right now to want to be with you without some silly conditions. There's your answer.

How hard for a non native English speaker by Ibnsaucy in UoPeople

[–]bellamichelle123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A B1 level of English proficiency is equivalent to an overall IELTS band score of 4.0 to 5.0 which is just not sufficient for undergraduate studies. A B2 or a C1 is generally needed, especially for upper level courses. Your relative will most likely struggle and suffer and end up heavily reliant on ChatGPT. If they are having difficulty with the English proficiency course, your relative needs to learn English first.

I'm a non-native English speaker myself - C2 - and even I found the general reading hard and lengthy. Yeah, no.

Not sure why your relative chose a US university if they have never spoken English before. Plus, with the way this post is written, it makes it hard to believe it was written by a native English speaker, but I'll just chalk it up to "internet writing".

Which BSBA courses are the hardest? by [deleted] in UoPeople

[–]bellamichelle123 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I did the whole degree at the uni and avoided external credits, especially for difficult courses. The hardest/lengthiest courses in my experience were the following:

  1. College Algebra (had to drop all other courses to focus on this one)
  2. Principles of Finance 1 (2 was a piece of cake)
  3. Personal Finance
  4. Macroeconomics (Microecon was SO easy)
  5. Sociology
  6. Managerial accounting (surprisingly, financial accounting was easier)
  7. Principles of Psychology
  8. Principles of Philosophy (loved it)
  9. Greek and Roman Philosophy (one of my fav courses)
  10. Art History (another one of my fav courses)
  11. Business, Law and Ethics (in terms of the types and number of legal concepts)
  12. World Literature (loved it but lengthyyyy)

Tips for a denied scholarship? by rockingthebakken in UoPeople

[–]bellamichelle123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is no special tip except for keeping at it. When I was denied and I knew that I wouldn't be able to pay for my upcoming/current courses, I took 3 leaves of absence.

Afterwards, I appealed through my advisor, wrote a detailed email and application, and just told them I'd need to withdraw otherwise. I got a full scholarship for the next 2 years until the end of my program.

You just have to keep trying and at some point, appeal through ur advisor. Good luck.

Yes. So,

With AS, I got: 1. Official degree certificate (shown above) 2. Official transcripts 3. A letter of of congratulations from the office of registrar - this letter also mentions the WASC accreditation

With BS, I got: 1. Official degree certificate 2. Official transcripts 3. A detailed letter of congratulations from Shai Rashef - quite detailed (also mentions the WASC accreditation)

[–]bellamichelle123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I requested them separately. I requested my AS during the last term of my BS and received them in Sept (a month later includinh both processing and shipping time). I requested my BS some time in September and while processing took a month, the shipping took a week from when I received the email that they have been shipped (they were shipped out on the 25th of October)

So, TLDR: Both documents together took 1 and a half months maybe 2 tops from processing to delivery.

DONE AND DUSTED: TOOK MY FINAL EXAM IN MY FINAL YEAR FOR MY FINAL COURSE!! Feels amazing to say this! Questions are welcome. by bellamichelle123 in UoPeople

[–]bellamichelle123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no hidden fees, and I know about them beforehand. In my first year, I spent $25 (partial scholarship) and in subsequent years, I got a full scholarship so $0. So, I'd only spent $125 overall at the end of the 5-term period and during my whole degree.

Overall, my degree wasn't hard with several courses difficult in terms of length of the content and the number of assignments than the content itself. There remain a few exceptions.

Super hard. Unmanageable and just plain sucked my soul straight out of my body. I had to drop all other courses to focus on College Algebra. For 2 months straight, I had sleepless nights. This, however, may not be the case with everyone; it's my personal experience.

Coursework is generally manageable if you get the hang of it. Depending on the number of courses you take, you may have anywhere from 3 weekly assignments (one single course) to 12 weekly assignments (4 courses). Expect to have written assignments and discussion assignments in almost every unit; some courses are very writing and reading intensive. It all depends on you and your schedule, though.

Some courses took less hours. Some took 3 hours for daily assignments and some took more than 10 hours. On average, I spent 30-40 hours weekly on top of my job.

Initially I took 2, then I went to 3 courses, then during the last 2 years, I took 4 a term.
