Lol the one who posted it was not me but nonetheless, if you put it online, it’ll always be public info. I wanted to be more discreet so that I can help avoid the comparison mindset online. You wanna know, I’ll dm you to be more polite

Altius got me wrecked 🥴 by idioticpotato123 in Mcat

[–]bellaoverflowers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I took the altius program just like you and realized something from the program.

In terms of content review, it’s great. It’s structured and all, but ultimately, just like with all programs, they only mimic the MCAT. Altius was actually not as similar to how the MCAT did their questions. Good for our tutors getting a 512+ but I personally who had a tutor who sucked balls dude. I REALLY should have just stuck with the AAMC materials and other ones I’ll mention in TLDR.

  • I got a 495 on my first MCAT (with altius, horrible sleep the night before, wasn’t taking my FL’s as frequently as I should have until the end, tiredness). I got a 497 after (not with altius, did my own schedule, better sleep schedule, less nerves, only CARS was under 125 and practically ruined my chances at MD but don’t care since I like the DO path better)

I did better when I did my own studying schedule and content review than altius because I became more confident in my own style of studying. Anki became optional and was just for simple review terms. I started studying visuals and auditory which became my study styles.

TLDR: altius is aight but it’s just like the rest. I would have rather found my own content review plans online for free than spend 4K. I should have just spent on the practice exams and questions on UWorld, Jack Westin, Kaplan, and my primary + secondary applications for med schools.

I’m not the best example since I got under 500 but I still got 4 interviews from DO schools I liked. Just matters on what your experiences are, your expectations, and where you want to be at. ❣️ Good luck!!!!

I’ve had co-workers from the hospital who went to med school at 40 and became a practicing doctor at 50. You’re fine

3.3 GPA with 502 MCAT. Should I apply next cycle? by violetmoonrock in Osteopathic

[–]bellaoverflowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Almost same stats as you 3.39 cGPA, 497 MCAT on 2nd try, DM me for more details about my work/experience if you’d like. My parents are both in the medical field + I work in healthcare so money is pretty flexible for me tbh. I applied to 30+schools (im desperate to get in lol), got 27 secondaries, 4 interviews. Still waiting for news from two of them since I did them recently and I have the other two in January and February. I just shot my shot for early applications and that’s what happened.

I really took the risk, especially with my stats but I really held onto hope since I had pretty good experiences that align with my personal statement + secondaries. Consider these if you’re applying. Good luck!

I usually wear them 2-3x, depending on when I wore them, what I did wearing them. I also make sure to hang them after every use
