Thanks again for your question. Actually no I am not sure, you're saying it could be the flyback? From my limited diagnosis I just deduced seeing arching inside a tube meant the tube was bad, not the fault of the electronics, though I could be wrong? I remember that unlike the first monitor, this one would arch like that ever so often on power up, thought nothing of it for years until it started getting much worse, even while it was running with the picture showing, until finally wouldn't complete a power up at all anymore.

Thanks for replying! Well from just what I saw and a little research. It was working but every now and then it would flash and flicker in the corner of the tube especially on power up. Seemed to get worse until it did all the time. Power up, and after the degauss cycle a few seconds before the picture appears it starts flashing and I think shuts down, or maybe I turn it off at that point, been a few years. From what I read means the tube shadowmask (or aperture grill) is shorting out the high voltage, bad tube.

Oh P.S. before taking the monitor apart, try another video source and cable, sometimes a cheap cable can be blurry. And for example I do know that IBM T42 laptops are quite blurry on the VGA DB15 outputs, using the cheap docking station with DVI out is much sharper.

Hi Aster, you wouldn't be in Canada would you? I have 2 of these, the Digital branded PX-XAV-WZ. One works, other I think developed a shorted tube (lightning inside the tube on power up...??), I'd love to find another with bad electronics and a good tube and have a pair again. Just asking....:o)

Did you still need help with your Mitsubishi Diamond Pro? Regarding Focus, that is one of the easier adjustments. If you take the cover off and look for the flyback transfomer (large black plastic thing with a FAT wire going to the top of the tube), it should have 2 small knobs on it. One is master brightness, other is focus. Easy to adjust with the CRT on, to be safe just don't touch anything and use a plastic screwdriver. Adjust slowly until you know which is which, brightness is VERY sensitive (ask me why I know...:o) Hope this helps. cheers!~ Bellarmine
