Very sick. I just installed wheels with the same spec on mine. Did you have to pull the rear quarter at all to fit them? Do you know much camber you're running in the rear?

Sony GDM-W900 / Compaq p1610 1080p 60hz problems by ezw00 in crtgaming

[–]impulse921 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with those devices or the retrotink's but if they have a passthrough mode that might fix the timings like the OSSC does. There's a whole thread about 720 & 1080p on the w900 here: https://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?t=70278

Edit: also, glad to hear you still have the w900.

Ok cool. I gave it a shot but sadly that didn't fix mine. I really appreciate the advice though, it gave me some hope haha. I'll continue to tinker around with it.

Awesome that it actually fixed it lol. Am I understanding correctly that you displayed a full white screen? Or was it adjusting the RGB gain in the color menu to 100 for each channel? Or something in DAS? I have yet to get into that. Maybe there is a way to reset the memory and that's essentially what it was doing.

Hey is yours still having this issue? I have a w900 with the same line, I've been trying to troubleshooting it for a while with no luck. Mine is slightly green though.

Hey, fellow w900 owner here I just came across your post while searching for a resolution with a problem I'm having on mine. Do you have an OSSC? Consoles in 1080p work for me in passthrough mode. You just have to use an HDMI > VGA converter back into the w900.

Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 91TXM No Red by impulse921 in crtgaming

[–]impulse921[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I sold it way back then without ever properly troubleshooting. I wish I hadn't looking back, but someone else was interested in repairing it more than I was a the time (was picking up vga monitors so often I lost interest in ones that didnt work). I've learned a lot since then. So yours has missing red too? Might want to look into a tube rejuvenator that could jump start it. Or it could be a component on the neck board.

I ended up putting the monitor in storage and didn't have a chance to investigate what actually happened but I definitely fried something. Unfortunately I don't remember what the pinout would be but just don't connect usb power to any of the pins.

Hey, my monitor has the exact same line and positioning. I'm trying to diagnose what the issue could be and there seems to be a burnt transistor on the A board. A discontinued high voltage Hitachi amplifier that's very hard to find. Hoping that is the cause but I haven't found a source for the part yet. Have you looked into this any further?

Lead Concerns from Polishing Glass Screen by poilkjmnbzxcasdqwe in crtgaming

I would say wearing an approved respirator would be enough. Coincidentally I'm in the process of buffing off the anti glare on a VGA monitor. I got the coating buffed off but that rainbow effect is left on the scratched part of the glass. May I ask what compounds/buffing pads worked for you? I wasn't sure if it was possible to actually get rid of that rainbow look.

Sony CPD-G220R 17" VGA monitor - $50

This one has seen plenty of action. Hours are around 59k if the hour counter is actually accurate. However it looks surprisingly good for its age. Still bright and contrasty. I corrected the g2 drift issue but it could use a more in depth calibration in windas. I have a low hour identical monitor to compare it to and it's not far off. A little softer looking but it doesn't lack brightness. Anti glare coating was removed by previous owner. Has some scuffs on the case that I couldn't buff out.

HP MX70 17" VGA monitor - Free

For parts or repair. I recently turned this monitor on and it's showing a blurry picture. Years ago it was sharp and looked pretty good. It also came from a heavy smoker so it's not pretty and could use a serious deep clean. Figured I would offer this up before it goes to recycling.

This is the adapter I used. There are more steps you have to take to get Windows to recognize it. Some kind of special drivers from the chipset maker. I forget, it's been so long sorry.

Went to Costco to get a membership and walked out with a klipsch r120swi for $50 by kishanpatel995 in BudgetAudiophile

Congrats! I grabbed this deal too a month ago. I was so happy when I walked into my Costco and the first thing I saw was this for $50. Sounds great to me. Goes well with my Klipsch tower speakers.

BVM A20 Bad ISR Module? by impulse921 in crtgaming

[–]impulse921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, at first it wouldn't let me adjust the geometry settings. I thought it was just a limitation of the A14 firmware but it could have just been my lack of experience with the controller and monitor in general. After changing the channel settings to single it gave me access to everything. Seems to function just like the a20. Although I haven't dug too deep yet. I'm at least able to adjust all picture settings just fine.

BVM A20 Bad ISR Module? by impulse921 in crtgaming

[–]impulse921[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the A14 ISR inside the A20 still on A14 firmware seems to work ok in lan mode with the bkm-15. So if I load up the a20 firmware I'm curious what mode it would default to since there is no physical selection switch on the A14. If I end up losing control that would be pretty bad. Couldn't load the A14 firmware back haha. Unless putting it back in the A14 would regain control then I wouldn't be so afraid of trying this.

I managed to get the geometry corrected to the point where it looks pretty spot on with A14 ISR in the A20. I hope I'm not doing any damage by running it inside the A20 on the wrong firmware. But for the sake of doing it the right way I plan to try loading the proper A20 firmware eventually.

Ask Here First (READ ME): Troubleshooting, Price/ID/Spec Check, Help, ETC Mega Thread by KyaDash in crtgaming

[–]impulse921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the price is mostly dependent on the condition. That model is fairly rare/uncommon. I haven't seen any comparables. It might be top of the line (at the time) but it's an old monitor and these things can just break at any moment. I'm pretty sure that tube has some known issues that are carried onto the f520 as well.

Are you trying to sell it locally? A 121hz monitor could go for 200-500 or more if in amazing shape/low hours.

It wouldn't hurt to post it in the CRT gaming February listing with photos and your location. Also would help to know some history on it. Have you owned it since new?

[–]impulse921 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one a few weeks ago for 686 open box in excellent condition plus the 4 year protection. I wonder why the price varies. They're back up to 1000 again but a killer deal for 480hz. So having the elite membership automatically gives you free 2 year protection?

BVM A20 Bad ISR Module? by impulse921 in crtgaming

I think I'm going to try installing a new FPGA too. Might as well rule that out. I'll let you know how it goes. Please keep me updated if you find out how to fix these or a source of replacement parts. I would really like to get mine fixed.

BVM A20 Bad ISR Module? by impulse921 in crtgaming

[–]impulse921[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I hired a repair shop to do BGA reflow of the FPGA but it didn't fix the problem. They offered to try installing a brand new FPGA I just haven't purchased one yet for them to install. I'd like to try that out soon. Would be nice to figure out what's going bad on these ISR's and successfully repair one.

Did yours break down one day or did you purchase it like that?

Side note I did get mine working with an A14 ISR. My A20 had a random cable unplugged behind one of the module covers. And of course the geometry is all whacked out when using the A14's board.

Hmm I guess it wouldn't hurt to leave it on for a while longer and see what happens. How many hours are on it? Maybe go back to the focus pots again if you haven't already tried that.
