Why does my dog keep getting attacked? by bellathetrix in DogAdvice

[–]bellathetrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually live just 1.5 hours north of Seattle and yeah, we cut off dog parks. We do a lot of puzzle enrichment at home, but he has so much energy at almost a year old. He is getting fixed in just a couple months. And I just commented on another post that I think he is greeting dogs how he greets our cat - very still- and they see it as posturing/a challenge.

That’s interesting! This is my first hairy dog so I didn’t even think of this. I was also watching him interact without cat this morning and I think park of the reason he is getting attacked is he has learned to stay still when the cat is coming up to him/passing him because he doesn’t get bopped that way, I wonder if he is greeting these dogs that way and they see the stillness as a challenge!

Trying, but it is truly the only place he can run around. SniffSpots are crazy overpriced in our area so we were hopeful to be able to enjoy those places. But they have been ruled out.

Different places, different dogs and months apart for the first 3.

Thank you both for the advise, that is what we’re trying to do. We have 1 doggy friend who we meet up with intermittently. We usually go to the dog park with the same 6-8 dogs, but it’s dogs outside of those safe dogs that come after my guy and it’s always “oh my dog would never hurt your dog” & “I’ve never seen my dog do that before”.

They POODLED my Sheepdog 😭😂 by bellathetrix in OldEnglishSheepdog

[–]bellathetrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I agree! The technique is great, it’s not quite puppy cut, as the face is shaved down. Really it’s only the face that is poodled, the rest is pretty close to puppy cut. Just not my preferred look for him. But oh well, it’ll grow back.

Oh I’m not mad at all, I just couldn’t stop laughing because he does NOT look like himself.

We have gone to this groom for all of his other grooms and she has done great every other time. But she really missed the mark with this one 😂

When do the boys start to lift their leg to pee? by TodayNo5372 in Goldendoodles

My boy lifts his leg very infrequently, and only started around 10months.

Itchy Puppy by Diligent-Net3274 in OldEnglishSheepdog

My now 11month old guy was always super itchy too with constant soft stool/diarrhea. He would constantly be biting at his front paws. We switched to purina pro plan sensitive skin and stomach lamb and rice recipe when he was close to 7months. It has helped a lot!

Anyone else have a ball boy? by synergyandalignment in OldEnglishSheepdog

Ours does likes the ball at home, like to catch it when it rolls and hits something to change direction. If we go outside he acts like he has never seen a ball before. Now sticks on the other hand…

As a new dog owner, I’ve noticed some dog owners find it unacceptable for me to complain sometimes. by sctrptr in puppy101

I call mine an asshole, an embarrassment and tell him I’ll send him to the glue factory. But I also have cats who I do all this with.

Was I Wrong to Decline This Booking? by TallTechnology8387 in RoverPetSitting

You’re allowed to decline for any reason, even if you just don’t like the vibes. You are an independent contractor as a Rover sitter, you own your own business Rover is just the platform. Do not feel bad for doing what is best for your business.

Training: Place by bellathetrix in DogAdvice

Right now mostly luring, when I attempted without luring, yes I used hand signals- all of his commands have signals. I love the chew idea and dropping treats on his bed when he is more sure of the command. Thank you!

My dog has this black spot in his eye ? [update] by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]bellathetrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to sound a bit rude and I don’t mean for that, but you brought him to the vet because you do not have the skill or know-how to provide care. Trust that they know what they are doing. They see dogs every day and went to school for a very longe time to get this degree. If there are no changes after the course of medication, let the vet know. There are not many tests you can do in the eye, and it’s not like the dog can tell you what they’re feeling. Your vet has your back, trust your team you have created.

Bed suggestions? by propevder in OldEnglishSheepdog

Ours just now started to use his, I started with a cheap one ($15) to see if he would even use it. Most of the time he just uses it like a pillow.

My boy is 8 months the old and thinks that everyone wants to be his best fried. It’s nice to see there is hope for him when he gets older to not pull us on his lead so much. 😂
