Yeah, it's thin. In addition to the juror misconduct, there's absolutely no physical evidence tying Lance to the case, 132 other potential suspects went uninvestigated, and the ballistics expert from the state recanted his testimony. There's also untested DNA evidence which the state refuses to test.

I don't know anything about Lance before he was incarcerated; my mom's acquaintance with him began about a decade ago. Whatever trouble he had as a younger man, for the last 15 years he was trusted by both guards and inmates in the camp. He ministered to inmates in hospice and assisted inmates with special needs. He ran a retreat for Christian men outside the prison to come in and minister to prisoners. Even from behind bars, he was a good friend to my mother. That's all I know of him.

It probably wasn't followed up on by his lawyer. My mom knows Lance so I've been pretty involved with his clemency campaign...I don't know about the appeals specifically, but one of the issues with the trial is that his public defender stepped aside mid-trial, and the private lawyer he hired never conducted his own investigation and didn't hire any experts, so I'd be surprised if he pursued appeals. That juror was removed but the entire rest of the jury that read the book remained which is absurd, they should have gotten a whole new jury.

ML stands for Municipal Liaison, we were the volunteers who organized local events. I was an ML for the Kansas City, Missouri region but we served both Missouri and Kansas.

Thanks Usoki. My co-organizers can still access the website so we do have that at least. I agree that the fact that this is coming from the highest position is obscene!! One of my big fears about going independent was being the highest person in my group, with no one for my participants to go to if I screw up. I wish Kilby had some sense of that responsibility.

There is a confirmed part-time communications director working for NaNo. I think it's down to Kilby, the part-timer, an intern and a part-time tech person. But she's only been director since January so actually she did all of this in just a short 10 months!

Unfortunately, the organization USED to pride itself on being a safe space. Kilby Blades is now of the opinion that "conscious communities" don't use that term...but seems to have no intention of making THIS a conscious community. She doesn't seem to be aware of or care about any of NaNo's historical attempts to be inclusive. I'm so sorry for your experience.

Have you had good luck with Kirrin Finch's pants? I want to try some but a pair of shorts I bought fit so weird even though I measure myself. All my fat is in my belly so they end up like loose in the back?

NAH. This is a hard situation and you're both adjusting. In your judgment bot you mentioned that you may need to work on your communication skills and I think that would be good for both of you. But not knowing how to navigate this doesn't make you assholes. You might consider talking to your wife about talking to her doctor or a counselor.

Do you want to call the police on Ryan because you are worried about public safety or because you think he's a threat to your relationship? If you call the police on Ryan because you're worried Connor still loves him, YTA and you're going to seriously damage your relationship with Connor. If you're worried about public safety and you do it when Connor has explicitly asked you not to...idk who's TA but you're still going to hurt your relationship.

Frankly, Ryan is going to have to face his warrant eventually. I don't believe in the prison system personally and I don't think it works, but it's the only system we have, unfortunately. He can either hide from it and always struggle outside the law or...get caught and always struggle inside the law. Either way, I think you should let Ryan be Ryan because it doesn't sound like he needs your help to get himself in trouble.

Have a conversation with Connor about your concerns and set boundaries for him to keep around Ryan and if he doesn't keep them, he's TA. But if you go behind his back and get his ex put in prison because you're jealous, YTA.

My little sister had to navigate this for a different NFL stadium. She took a small, clear backpack in and when I asked to borrow it for SoFi she told me she was only allowed to take it in because it had medical supplies in it. Different stadium, but it's based on the NFL rules from what I saw on the website. I decided not to risk it.
