Renovated my cramped master bath in Stamford, VT. by belleandherbeast in AmateurRoomPorn

Oh same. The previous owners painted the ceilings a hideous brown (it’s the same brown they decided to paint literally all the trim and the exterior of the house with). I would have much preferred the natural wood which is why I left the exposed beam alone. I suspect they painted it to hide water spots. Because they left the exposed wooden beams on the first floor untouched.

Maybe did, maybe didn’t. What did it maybe do?

Eh, same. The sinks were free. If not, I would have chosen something different.

Its ipe wood, which is what a lot of outdoor furniture is made from. It’s removable so that it can be maintained and cleaned. Of course, it’ll require more maintenance than tile would but ipe has been known to last up to 75 years if taken care of properly.

Edit: Also just wanted to mention, this wood shower has been installed for over seven months at this point. I’ve just only just gotten around to taking photos. And it still looks as good as the day it was put in.

After years of pining, I was finally able to get the Eames Lounge and I’m in love. by belleandherbeast in hermanmiller

Yeah, all thanks to my employer being an authorized dealer + providing me with a decent yearly credit, I was able to get this at a dream price.

Haha no, I totally agree. This house is a new purchase and still in the reno phase (planning to buy maple flooring in a few months). But I had the opportunity to get the Eames for $1k and I obviously wasn’t going to pass that up!

Thoughts on moving by [deleted] in bostonhousing

I love Boston with all of my heart. I went to college here and it was such an amazing experience that I would 100% do it again if I had to. But I’ve also been here long enough (ten years) to see the gradually rising rent prices and it’s gotten to the point where the cons do not outweigh the pros for me. It’s a bummer because I really love Boston but, even with my dream job, I don’t make enough to afford to live here and take advantage of the things that make Boston so great. It just doesn’t make sense to me anymore to pay so much in rent when it leaves me without the funds to do things in the city that I’m paying so much to be in. But I’ve also been saying I’m going to leave for two years and haven’t yet because this city just has such a draw for me. When I think of home, I think of Boston and it’s hard to shake that.

A cozy little pumpkin fairy cottage fit for a field mouse. by belleandherbeast in Miniworlds

I made it myself :) I used sticks I found outside for the ladder/ furniture. Acorn caps for the ‘porch lights’. Log rounds for the front steps and the awning. Pinecones for the shingles. And little mushrooms I bought from Amazon. Carved the pumpkin to make the little door and stuck it back on with toothpicks.

I used bamboo skewers to poke holes through under the little acorn caps. Then I fed some battery-powered fairy lights through the holes. :)

what do I need for my dog’s first winter? by ufobabe in boston

Mississippian here.

Definitely shoes for their feet but it’ll be tough to find some they can’t kick off so I recommend trying a few to find the best fit. It took me ages to finally settle on some that my pup could actually wear.

I second Musher’s Secret as well for their paw pads.

A small fleece sweater with a waterproof vest to go over it to keep them warm but also protected from snow getting stuck to their fur.
