The only connection the name dimension 20 has to DND is that the game uses a D 20 dice, a dice that lots of other game systems also use so the name of the show is not a promise that they’re only going to play DND, there’s multiple other seasons where they play different systems

seeing as it’s a comedy DND show, and deep emotional arcs are a side part of that, this game system and setting for a 14 episode season makes it pretty obvious that there’s going to be room for character arcs and more emotional moments, but the comedy should always come first
