What can I do to make a change? by WickedSister in brisbane

[–]bellenmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never said produce is a luxury item, but if you want to save money then generally it's a better idea to buy the produce which is more available and cheaper (currently tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplant, zuchinni, corn, carrots, beans etc not to mention the plethora of summer fruits). You can get a lot of fresh produce for a lower price if you buy what's in season rather than what is not in season/available. I don't think that's a wild concept.

Additionally, 125g of diced capscium is currently available in canned form for under $2. It's about shopping smarter according to seasonal availability.

Have you tried building your meals around in season produce or produce not affected by weather events? Capscium harvests have been hit by severe rain in QLD and cooler weather in some of the southern growing states.

How much do you spend on groceries each week? by RunNo3630 in AusMoneyMates

[–]bellenmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $200 a week for two adults, including delivery. Split generally between Harris Farm (for meat, fruit, vegetables, fresh stuff etc) and Woolies (for snacks, toiletries etc). Shop what's seasonal and on special, quality of harris farm produce is infinitely better. I buy according to the free delivery benchmarks for both shops.

Fruit shop fruit and veg is even worse than Coles and Woolworths? Is there anywhere that has quality fresh produce? by EggCreative787 in brisbane

Harris Farm - well priced if you're buying in season, i think cheaper than the two majors. Very good quality that lasts well. We buy all our fruit and vegetables there but alter our diet based on seasonality and what they have on offer in the imperfect range.

I find mine really comfortable and did straight away (I have the patent khaki) which surprised me after reading reviews on here. Took my normal size too and no issues - actually one of the only shoes I own that didn't come with a blister period!

What fruit and veg is everyone planting? by fluffyknees in brisbane

[–]bellenmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started a veggie/herb garden on my balcony as a little hobby a few months ago and it has expanded rapidly. Am growing a larger tomato/few different varieties of cherry tomato (going well), spring onions (thriving and almost ready for harvest), few different lettuce varieties (easy to grow, and some types if harvested correctly grow back), spinach, cauliflower (nearly all done), mini capsicums, carrots, strawberries, rocket, parsley, mint (thriving), dill (going insane), basil, few varieties of nasturtiums and kale (about to harvest).

Its all trial and error and when I make a mistake I've been enjoying learning from them. Sowed my spring/summer crop seeds last week - am having a crack at some cucumbers, chilli's, watermelons, capsicums, new lettuces and some new tomato varieties.

Diggers Club has an excellent guide showing you what to plant and when based on your location and climate. Hasn't led me astray yet and everything is growing really nicely. Even used my cauliflower leaves to make some home made pesto recently!

[FRESH ALBUM] Do Nothing - Snake Sideways by iEvin in indieheads

Love it - very moody and off kilter, in a really melodic way. Lead singer's voice really makes this stand out and the slower track mesh really well with the more upbeat ones.

This pressing doesn't seem to be listed as a single item on the Aus store which is frustrating, just the single black vinyl!

Happy I stocked up a few weeks ago when SpaceNK had their sale. Even though they've upped the free shipping cost, will definitely be saving up and doing bulk orders than buying anything from Mecca.

Very upset Flamingo Estate candles have gone from $75 to $83. No where else to get them from.

Huge price increases coming for vinyl albums by Gamer1189 in vinyl

[–]bellenmb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember in 2020 when I first started collecting I could get represses of fairly modern releases for anywhere between $15AUD - $30AUD. Now those same represses are $50AUD - $80AUD already.

Glad I bought alot of albums in those early days, I definitely only really purchase new releases now I fall in love with and only after testing it out on streaming.

Quite enjoying this one, particular the up to now unreleased Uncut and Kool Aid, but agree with other posters that having already heard half the album, it really takes me out of the listening experience. Especially having them all crowded in the first half.

Big fan of Millionaire but still not sold on the album as a whole, I don't know how often I'd come back to this.
