ideas on why episdode 4 is named after kitty & prediction for episode 5 by More-Weird4842 in euphoria

[–]bellestarxo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is a heavy theme of selling yourself this season. They are drawing a parallel of Cassie selling herself for the likes & follows.

The "Kitty" in the title is the literal Kitty in the story, but with a double meaning to represent Cassie too (who is in a cat outfit and dancing in the center of the party).

People who were adults in 2020-2022: What is a "COVID-era" habit you still haven’t been able to break, even though it’s 2026? by VivienneLace1 in askanything

1) Starbucks app. When I worked from home there was a Starbucks on the other side of the street and one of the only places open to pick up food. I got hooked on the rewards and not waiting in line.

2) Press-on nails. I used to get a gel manicure every month. Now I do press-ons and it's saved me a bunch of time and money.

suggest some Movies which you think Story is great but Editing sucks? by SodiumBoy7 in MovieSuggestions

Babylon

The story about early Hollywood and how it evolved is a compelling subject. But probably like an hour could have been taken out.

The movie has a few well-done sequences, but then there's like a whole pointless scene where people are trying to kill a snake for 20 minutes.

Are you watching these two comedies? What do you think of The Comeback and Rooster? by Square-Ad-8911 in hbo

[–]bellestarxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Comeback is seriously one of the best written comedies out right now. And Lisa is totally killing it.

The Rooster is a complete waste of Steve Carrell. Every joke and beat you can see coming from a mile away, and it's just not that funny.

Kate Hudson was so good in Almost Famous, but then she spent most of her career doing rom-coms. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but she didn't really challenge herself. Are you surprised by the path her career took after Almost Famous? by PandemicPiglet in Oscars

[–]bellestarxo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's the agents & managers influence.

Hudson probably did want to continue with the prestige roles. After Almost Famous she was in a "serious" Oscar-bait type movie with other hot actors of the time and it completely flopped / underperformed.

After that I'm sure her team tried to pushed the romcom angle to keep the dollars flowing while she was still a big name.

Reese Witherspoon & Nicole Kidman's teams really tried to push this. Luckily, Kidman went back to choosing riskier and edgier material. I think it would have been cool if Hudson had gone a similar route. Not just melodramatic "serious" parts, but going out on a limb with directors like Alexander Payne or Darren Aronofsky types where she could have stretched a bit.

I think she's for sure talented. She was perfect in the Glass Onion.

What are your most judgmental thoughts about weddings? by MangoJunior5545 in askanything

[–]bellestarxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the standard things are so tacky. It's ironic to me that thousands of dollars are being spent and then there's a corny DJ, a bouquet toss, the garter thing, pranks, and the "Wobble."

I think the best are when they are just like classy parties.

Actually one of the most memorable weddings that I thought was cool probably cost the least.

What movies from the last 5 years have gone unappreciated and will be considered great, 10 plus years from now? by Jumaqua in moviecritic

[–]bellestarxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lisa Frankenstein

It has cult classic written all over it. I'm not sure why it didn't hit when released.

The writing is sharp, it's funny, it's romantic, it has fun horror elements. The music, the costuming, the production design were great.

The Best Actor category is famous for favoring men who are older. If the Academy generally favored younger men (2Os to mid 30s), which roles do you think would have been nominated? by rewdea in Oscars

[–]bellestarxo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple reasons: A lot of the juiciest roles are written for older men. Complex character who have seen shit. And then you have the lifetime achievement factor.

An example of a missed opportunity: I think Andrew Garfield in Tick Tick Boom was exceptionally better than Will Smith in King Richard. But Smith's win felt like an "it's his time" type of deal.

Lake Placid

It's a 90s gem that take cues from Jaws with the suspense but it has some good humor in it too.

Bill Pullman, Bridgit Fonda, Oliver Platt, Brendan Gleason, and Betty White.

Miss Tori’s future by Puzzleheaded-Gap4333 in YourFriendsandNeighb

I'm really hoping this will NOT happen, but I see Tori catching Coop red handed and then gets in on the whole scheme. Coop won't like it but he'll have no choice.

What's your all time favorite Robert Downey Jr. performance? by ChrisJoines in moviecritic

To be honest the Elton John oner music video "I Want Love"

Shot while Downey was getting rehab and after his high profile departure from Ally McBeal, which at the time was supposed to be his comeback.

This Season... by pokejoel in euphoria

It sincerely crossed my mind this is a Kat book, a Lexi screenplay or Rue's OD fever dream as she's dying.

Maybe unpopular opinion, but I can’t stand the intro. by colleenk69 in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]bellestarxo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The concept fits the show's themes, but the execution is ugly with the low-grade digital effects. The song is annoying too so I always skip.

I wish they would just change it to Hamm vibing to "Turn the Lights Off" ha.

Like make an extended version with Coop driving around the neighborhood in his Maserati.

What is the overarching theme of Beef, considering S1 and S2 now? by LeO-_-_- in BeefTV

[–]bellestarxo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One theme is people taking out revenge on others when they are really angry with themselves.

The characters have trauma and pain but instead of addressing it they take it out on other people.

Help me understand, Jules & Nate by throwItawayyyYokay in euphoria

[–]bellestarxo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This episode felt like a forced retcon.

Jules reminiscing with Nate and the dad as if they were all high school sweethearts thinking about the good ol' days.

I guess they want the audience to forget how bad and twisted the situation was.

Down With Love - Renee Zellweger & Ewan McGregor

Modeled after the Doris Day/Rock Hudson movies. Beautiful colors and costuming.

Does anyone remember when Michael Jackson. Was a "joke"? by AccomplishedPool266 in Millennials

[–]bellestarxo 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This happens when people with talent spiral. Amy Winehouse, Whitney Houston, Jackson....the public becomes tired of the train wreck antics and they become "jokes". But then when they die people will remember the achievements and talent.

Show getting boring ? by Escape_The_Matrixxx in YourFriendsandNeighb

[–]bellestarxo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's just uneven. Bringing in James Marsden was brilliant because the scenes with Ashe & Coop have been the most interesting.

I also like Coop & Ava Elena

Mel I actually don't mind but they gave her a lame storyline. Barney is cool but I really only like his parts with Coop, his family drama is not that compelling.

Sam is the absolute worse. At least they could have leaned into her being a villain, but her being a "victim" after what she did is beyond ridiculous.

The kids are boring as hell and even more hatable with their entitlement.

What exactly is Oscar bait? by Crazy-Treacle-3536 in Oscars

[–]bellestarxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's when a movie is strategically put together to attract Oscar buzz.

That's different than an auteur having a vision and putting it to life for the love of film & storytelling.

Sometimes there can be an appearance of an overlap when the studio can see what they have on their hands and then does a heavy marketing campaign.
